| Is there any one centrally located that can volunteer their
home? (and what is "central" - Maynard? Worcester? Framingham?
Merrimack?)
(I doubt many people will want to make it out to the foot hills
of the Berkshires where I live.)
Any ideas on when - before or after Christmas, or wait until
after Febuary?
How about who? i.e. women only, all womensnote noters, so's
etc.

| Reading this topic so far makes it sound like there is no *life*
outside of Massachusetts.
Must be hard for you Deccies outside the greater Maynard area at
times. I would like it if people in this file would phrase things
a little less geocentrically.

I'm interested. I'd still like to come if SO's are included but
kind of think it might be more interesting if only Womannoters are
included. I'd be interested to meet the men who contribute also,
though. People with SO's don't seem to like to go to things without
them (I suppose otherwise what's the sense in having them?), so
maybe most people will want them included.

| I think a get together sounds like a great idea. I work in Parker
Street and live in Bolton but would be willing to travel anywhere
in the Boston-Nashua-Worcester area. I suggest that people responding
to this note include info about where they work and live and the
general area that they consider to be *local*. As to time, I think
it makes sense to wait until after the holidays. Maybe we could
set something up for January?

| I would love to go to a get-together. I work in Marlboro and live
in Auburn MA (right outside Worcester). I vote for after the holidays
since I'm having a baby in December!
I also think all womannoters should be invited and that it might
be more interesting without SOs--at least this time.
You don't think DEC would pay for the out-of-staters to attend,
huh?

| I will be glad to serve as coordinator or chair of a party committee
if people want to write to me off line. I think what we need most
right now is someone who is willing to offer a place to hold it.

| HI All,
I'll offer our house to hold the Womannoters party. We live in Harvard,
Ma. and are easy to get to via 495 and Rt. 2. Let's settle on a Friday
night in January (at least), so I can recover from the holidays.
Carpooling is encouraged, as our driveway can pack in about 10 cars, but
then you're on our lightly traveled street.
Whatcha think?

Not to pick a nit or anything, but I enjoy going to events with
OR without my SO. If I had a preference, I would choose going
with him, but primarily because I usually find him to be the most
interesting person there. My reasons for "having" him (and marrying
him) have very little to do with his role as my escort.
Sorry to digress but you struck a sensitive chord.
Amiably,

112.18 | explanation of SO | EXCELL::SHARP | Say something once, why say it again? | Mon Nov 24 1986 07:57 | 7 |
| Significant Other is a sociology term that means the people who really have
influence over one's thinking and behavior. It potentially includes parents,
siblings, spouse, former spouses, lovers, children, and close friends, but
in modern parlance it generally means your spouse or (if you aren't married)
your lover.

| We were very relieved to discover at last the meaning of the term
SO which has been the subject of much speculation between Pat
and I.
One of Pat's guesses (which *I* liked ) was 'Sex Object' :-)

BTW - I suspect I am not alone in sharing this note-file with my wife?
oops sorry SO.

112.23 | Pot luck? | HPSCAD::TWEXLER | | Tue Nov 25 1986 14:59 | 8 |
| A get-together of womennoters (with or without SO's) sounds like
a fantastic idea to me!!! I live in Natick, so Boston out to
Worcester is local to me. Leslie's kind offer of her home seems
great to me. How do people feel about making it a pot luck sort
of get-together?

| I've been writing to Leslie off line. We've set two tentative
dates Jan 16th and Feb 6th. As soon as I am sure that our moderators
can come at least one of those dates I'll post an offical date here
and start a list for people to bring things.
I have started a party committee. Anyone else interested in joining
please send me mail.

No, you're not alone. Lisa follows this notes file almost as much as I do.
Though she hasn't contributed directly, she knows a lot of the
personalities and wouldn't be in the position of odd person out. I wanna
bring her, o.k.?
