69.1 | bury 'em in birdseed | SWSNOD::RPGDOC | Have pen, will travel | Tue Aug 19 1986 18:04 | 7 |
| Try looking in the ADS::FUNDRAIS notesfile. I saw one good idea
in there on selling birdseed. Press KP7 or SELECT to add it to
your NOTE DIRECTORY.
Where are you located? A neighbor of mine in West Acton makes the
oars for a number of Olympic teams. His name's Piantadosi (sp?),
maybe you can hit him up for a discount.

69.2 | try the women graduates | STUBBI::REINKE | | Tue Aug 19 1986 21:57 | 7 |
| Try writing to the women who have graduated to see if any of them
can donate items for a raffle or silent auction, or raise money
for you where they live. Having graduated from a woman's college
I know the alums are very loyal to the school. Maybe the women
who went before you may be more interested in helping their
younger sisters out.

| When I was an undergrad, I was on the college ambulance corps. We faced a
similar problem -- too little money and too little respect. Someone had the
bright idea of getting a line on the tuition bill. Right there along with
"Do you want to give $1 for NYPIRG?", "Do you want to give $$$ for
tuition?" was "Do you want to give $1 for 5-Quad Volunteer Ambulance
Service?" (There were 5 living quadrangles, hence the name).
It worked like a charm. Within a year or so, we had a new ambulance (*not*
cheap) and a nice bank balance.
Now, your school might not put the women's rowing team on the bill, but they
might put women's sports generally. It probably took a lot of convincing,
so I don't imagine it would happen too quickly, but it's a good idea. For
the record, this was at SUNY Albany.

69.7 | Gary has all his oars in the water! | RSTS32::TABER | | Fri Aug 22 1986 12:38 | 12 |
| Gary Piantedosi lives at 257 Arlington Street, West Acton. His
workshop is on Central Street and easy to get to. We used to live
next to Gary and Diana on Arlington Street.... He charges VERY
reasonable prices and his oars are legendary.
Fundraising dinners were a big hit for us, especially if we could
line up the right speakers... but then, this approach takes money
to make money...
Good luck --
