| I would feel some discomfort about this file supporting the sex-related
topics (those should probably be dealt with in a closed, members
only context) but would have no problem with all the myriad questions
surrounding psychological or legal intimacy.

As one who was fairly active in the SEXCETERA conference I would
have to agree with the two previous replies.. I often let my opinion
on subjects be known but almost always kept them of a clinical or
general nature. I did not have and do not have any problem with
the candid way in which SEXCETERA operated but look what it lead
to!!... I would hate to see this file meet the same fate if someone
decided that it too contained "offensive" material.

| I would enjoy being about to discuss these topics in here. And
i also agree with the prior notes to this base note.

| I would be sorely dissappointed to see this file go the way of
SEXCETERA. I enjoyed SEXCETERA for it's lively, frank discussions
and I was an active participant, however, it would be a shame to
allow this file to eventually meet that type of fate because someone
found the material offensive, and what may be offensive to me, may
not be offensive to you...and I'm sure I wouldn't know where exactly
to draw the line. I still have questions regarding different types
of birth control and how to deal with PMS, but I can get those answers
from medical personnel instead of over the Net.

12.7 | Maybe a little, but let's be careful | CFIG1::DENHAM | Springtime in the Rockies | Tue May 13 1986 23:09 | 12 |
| I was also disappointed to see the demise of SEXCETERA. I would
hate to have that happen to this conference as well. And like Sunny,
what you find offensive may not be the same as what I find offensive.
So, I agree that perhaps we should at the very least keep things
in a clinical form, rather than "I have discovered that X (including
details) is (whatever you found it to be)". That type of thing
should probably be either kept off the net for now or discussed
in closed conferences.

12.8 | Basically seconding 12.1... | HBO::HENDRICKS | | Thu May 15 1986 11:35 | 11 |
| Some of the topics discussed in Sexcetera seem appropriate enough
to Womannotes. Sexcetera had a completely different tone than
Womannotes, though, and I would like Womannotes to maintain the
tone which has been set so far.
If the rumor that Womannotes-is-the-new-Sexcetera began to be spread
about, I think many people who wouldn't have had the slightest
interest in Womannotes would begin to flood this conference with
topics which don't belong here.

| Me, too, Maggie.... We have so many issues to deal with and the
sex issues get SO complicated and so heated..... and there are so
many crooks and nannies to fall into....
I'd feel more comfortable knowing there was one less hole I could
fall into....

| I'd like to feel free to discuss those issues here, maggie. It
seems like all the replies to-date are conscious of the need for
discression. BTW, the Human_Relations file says something like
'version 2 of the 'other' file'..... y'all may want to check it
out if you haven't as yet.
