3.0. "Other Forums Discussion Women's Issues (Usenet)" by VAXUUM::DYER (Pineapple o knife?) Mon Apr 21 1986 15:43
This conference is a good idea. For those of us who can't
get enough, though, there are two more forums available to DEC
employees for discussion of women's issues. Both are run from
the Usenet, a Unix-based network of mail and articles.
The first is the Usenet net.women newsgroup. To read the
articles in net.women, one first has to "subscribe" to it. One
does this by sending mail to ROLL::USENET (or ASHBY::USENET)
with the word "subscription" in the subject line, and with the
following text:
$ uselist add <your-node>::<your-username> net.women
So I, for example, would send this:
$ uselist add VAXUUM::DYER net.women
(There are other Usenet newsgroups that you can add this way.
If you're interested, the ROLL::USENET conference has more
information.)
If you would like to post articles to the Usenet net.women
newsgroup, you can do it with MAIL. Just send the articles to
this address:
To: RHEA::DECWRL::"net.women"
The quotes are required, and "net.women" must be in lower-case.
There is also a moderated women's mailing list that is
mailed around the Usenet. Lisa Chabot (MILES::CHABOT) redis-
tributes mailing list articles within DEC. To get on redistrib-
ution list, send MAIL to Lisa.
