Anyone have any good hints/tips on working with Tables?
I'm trying to create some pages like those mentioned here
in Frontpage97. The table editor for this isn't that
great. Any tips would be welcome.

| IMO, tables are essential to good page design, and a product like
NetObjects Fusion bases its whole process on them. I tend to hand craft
mine, but almost any tool, like say, WebEdit, has a table generator,
which can be handy for roughing up the outline. One can then fill in
the blanks, so to speak, by hand. It's worth putting some effort into
understanding them and how they work.
Cheers, Laurie.

| I used to be afraid of tables. They never worked for me. Then i found
http://www.killerwebsites.com. Their site is geared to selling their
book, but there is a great tables tutorial in the site that is
definately (imho) worth a look at.

95.8 | tiptoe through the tables | DSNENG::KOLBE | Wicked Wench of the Web | Thu Apr 03 1997 17:22 | 6 |
| I've just made a standard template for my pages that is a table that fills the page.
Then I can split cells as needed or add a table within a cell. In addition I've added all
the Digital required stuff so my template is ready to go external as soon as I add
data. Now, this is a lot easier using a WYSIWYG editor. I find that when I have to hit
the actual HTML code I have to be very careful because all the table code can be very
easy to misinterpret concerning which cell is which. liesl

95.10 | table formatting | CIM2NI::CROSBY | | Thu Apr 03 1997 20:34 | 17 |
| As most of my audience tends to like to print things (so much for the paperless
office), I format my page tables at a 640- pixel width. Then, I assign columns
percentage widths...20, 40, 40, etc.
Nested tables I assign 99% width, and so forth.
Give FrontPage a chance. The only 2 drawbacks I've seen are:
It tends to be a bit buggy when you insert a horizontal line into a cell, and
If you build a table, then change the COLSPAN attribute of a cell to 2,3,etc.,
Frontpage isn't smart enough to discard the leftover cell. I have to go into the
html to fix that.
Laurie, that's the first mention in a while regarding Fusion....Good, Bad?
