645.0. "MS Exchange 5 and Mylex DAC 960 on AS 4100" by LEDER1::GONZALEZ (Ernesto Gonzalez) Mon Jun 02 1997 16:48

Has anyone had problems with MS Exchange Performance Optimizer (Exch v. 5)
and the Mylex DAC 960/Digital SWXCR-EX RAID controller driver for Windows
NT 4(SP2)? Every time I run the Exchange Optimizer it fails on the Disk
analysis part, and hangs NT. Exchange works fine otherwise. I have tried
a newer revision of the same RAID controller and had the same results.
It's on an Alpha Server 4100 5/467 connected to two StorageWorks shelves
via the RAID controller.

Thanks
Ernesto Gonzalez

645.1I have something similar on NT 3.51 SP5NNTPD::"[email protected]"Nico PretoriusWed Jun 04 1997 08:1833
Hi,

I have a similar problem on the same machine (466MHz CPU and 3 channel KZPSC).

In fact the customer has two and it's happening on both.

The machine is running NT3.51 SP5 with SAP. Whenever you go into Disk
Administrator
the machine hangs. The system disk is however on the onboard KZPAA contoller
and not on the RAID controller. I monitored the performance of the disk
subsystem
with Performance Monitor under NT and noticed that the "disk queue length
counter"
on the system disk is "full scale" although there the "% disk time counter"
is on zero.

Where is your system disk?

Is there perhaps a general problem with this model?

I have loaded the updated KZPSC driver, AlphaBIOS is 5.28 and I'm using rev c
of
the NT3.51 HAL.

The problem seems to have only appeard since SP5 was loaded.

Thanks for any replies.

Regards
