633.0. "16-slot PCI options, which one?" by COPCLU::GREG (Greg Parker @DMO, 857-2454) Thu May 29 1997 06:19

	About the 8-slot PCI-upgrade for the 4000...

When do we sell the H7150-AA option, and when do we sell
the DH-53Z2A-AA upgrade. They are both in the most recent SOC.

Is the first for 'newer' systems, and the last for 'older'
	systems?

	Best regards
	Greg

I'll repost 511.1 here with the appropriate part numbers. The short
answer is, yes H7150-AA is the PCI option for the newer boxes, DH-53Z2A-AA
is the drawer upgrade for the older boxes.

You can't get the PCI I/O expansion parts now because they won't fit in
existing drawers. Here's what the scenario looks like, where Dodge is
the 4100 (4 CPUs, 8 PCI), Wrangler is the current 4000 (2 CPUs, 8 PCI),
Wrangler II is the new 4000 without I/O (2 CPUs, 8 PCI), and Durango is
    the new 4000 with I/O (2 CPUs 16 PCI):

So, no, you can't ever upgrade a 4100 (Dodge)with more PCI, just the 4000.
The current box upgrades with a drawer swap. If you buy a Wrangler II
box, you can upgrade with just the I/O parts (Horse and Saddle
    modules).

I think there will also be a "side-grade" part number, where you can go
from a 4100 (with a Dodge motherboard, 4 CPU capable with 8 PCI) to a
4000 (with a Durango motherboard, 2 CPU capable with 16 PCI).
