| David,
This feature applies to systems that have temperature sensors. At present only
the AS4100's temperature sensor is monitored. Other systems (AS1000A) use the
Enviromental Monitoring software but the thershold is fixed by the system
hardware so the value will have no affect. The AS1000A's warning value is set
at 35 deg C. The hard shutdown occurs at 40deg C. The value that can be changed
in both cases is the time from warning to shutdown of the system.
What is the "ENVMON_HIGH_THRES" ?
This is the value used by the Enviromental Monitoring software to determine if
the system has reach a critical temperature. The value is determined by the
type of system. The AS4100 has a maximum operating temperature of 35 degrees C.
According to the 'man' page, the variable is the threshold level.
Could someone help to explain more about the usage of this variable ?
At this value being reached the system will begin the countdown for
shutdowning down the system if the problem is not corrected. In the
case of the AS4100 the system will be "halted". This is done to save
the user from any loss of data during the overtemp condition. If the
temperature conditions continues to rise the hardware will remove the
DC power from the system.
The countdown value is in minutes. This parameter can also be changed.
And the default setting is 40.
The value of 40 was selected with a tolerance of +/- 5.0 C
Does it means the threshold of the temparture is 40C ?
YES.
If any system has reach this temperature the ambient temperature is beyond the
designed safe range of the systems hardware.
