625.0. "AVA01-AA sound card support?" by MQOOA::LEDOUX (Vincent [email protected]) Thu May 22 1997 16:07

The AVA01-AA is supported under Unix (V3.0 and up)
    on systems like ALphaServers 400, 800, 1000 & 1000a
but not on SMP servers. It is also supported on some
    AlphaStations.

The AVA01 is the Microsoft sound card.

    Has anyone tried it?

Any chance to see it supported, one day?

Even not supported does it work?

    Thanks,

    Vince.

I'm not sure why you think that the AVA01 is supported on AlphaServers
under Multimedia Services for Digital UNIX. It's not supoprted by the
engineering team and has never been tested by them. I supposed some
3rd party (AlphaServer engineering?) could be 'supporting' this
combination, but I'm hard pressed to understand how they could do this
effectively without access to the sources.

If you check the Multimedia_Services notes conference, you will find
reports of people getting this option working in 2100s. I haven't
heard of anyone trying it in a 4100.

Check our AlphaServer 800 internal web site for example:
    http://cosmo.tay.dec.com:82/usr/comet/data/public/supported_options_lists/mf/as800.htm
and other servers "supported option lists" web pages...

It does say the AVA01 *is* a supported option on these AlphaServers
(Unix) but *not* the 4100... fine.

Again, has anyone "tried" it, ..forget about the support...

    Thanks,

    Vince.
