616.0. "Problem with Autosensing Qlogic" by ALFSS2::WHITTINGTON (Where is my Starbuck) Wed May 21 1997 17:30
From customer:
We currently have troubel interfacing with our FTR3050 imagesetter
using
Qlogic SCSI host adapter. When our RIP software sends a mode select to
the
imagesetter's hard disk to set certain printing parameters for the next
output, and the imagesetter is busy, it returns a check condition. This
check confition is detected by the Qlogic board, but the sense data was
not
automatically read in (with autosense set). Our software relies on this
sense data to work correctly. This problem does not happen when using
the
NCR SCSI that comes with the system. A workaround might be to rewrite
the
software to send a request sensse following a check condition to get
the
sense data. Howevere, we feel that the autosense should work with
Qlogic. We have been shipping this same Qlogic board on other platforms,
(intel running NT and MAcintosh) without this problems.
Configuration:
system:alphaserver 4100 (1-4 CPU)
os: windows nt 4.0
service pack sps.2
bio: ver 5.2
qlogic board:scsi-2 fast wide differential
qlogic driver: ql10wnt.sys,version4.0 (Microsoft's and included with
system CD.)
thanks for any input. I am not familiar enough to know if the native
Qlogic driver in Alphabios 5.28 is affecting this or not.

| Hi,
Which Qlogic adaptor are you using? the only one that is officially supported is
the KZPDA which is single channel single ended.
