597.0. "16 slot PCI supported options list" by ADOV01::MANUEL (Over the Horizon....) Mon May 12 1997 04:39

    With the release of the 16 PCI slot option, is there a revised
    supported options list to reflect this expansion.
    I have checked the supported options page on the web site and this has
    not been updated since Feb 1997.

    The reason for asking here is that I wish to connect a 300GB ESA array
    to an AS4000, with this plus tape units I need to configure the system
    with 10 KZPSAs ethernet and FDDI cards - any comments appreciated.

    OS is Digital Unix.

There is no real reason more than 5 KZPSA's will not work.....

It's just a matter of qual testing....

A revised qual list should be comming soon. I'll ask when.

You may want to be more specific on exactly how many and of what type
controller you're planning to install. How many KZPSA's, DE500's, and DEFPA's?
Which models?

597.4UNIX and >5 KZPSA'sWONDER::TOUSERKANIWed May 14 1997 12:335
    There might be a hicup when configuring beyond (5) KZPSA with UNIX. I am
    not sure if this was an O/S issue or HW/FW issue. Let me double check
    with the UNIX folks since they were doing the tests.

597.5UNIX is waiting for SHR responseWONDER::TOUSERKANIWed May 14 1997 14:5722
This is what I got back from UNIX folks. It looks like it might be a H/W or
    KZPSA F/W issue with this. That's why we have indiacted a max. of (5)
    per system until we find what the limitation is. Let me poke around the
    Storage people for an answer as well.

Subj:	Re: KZPSA's

frank,

	We looked at the KZPSA error that was being seen. It was seen
a misc error on the KZPSA. The problem was sent to the SHR folks. It's
now one of their numerous kzpsa problems.. UNIX is waiting for SHR to
explain the problem.

Frank,

	One piece of information is that the maximum number ww ran was
8. {9} is where things begin to fail.

Hi Frank,

We have KZPSA's on order so we can qual 10 on Dorango. We know of a issue
with 9 or more not working. That is the only multiple KZPSA issue that I'm
aware of.

Dave Okeefe, any status on this order? I know they were on allocation for
awhile which delayed the order.
