I got a voice mail today from an ISV that's trying to sell qty 10 4100 systems into an Internet Service Provider. The application in question is some sort of web server based on Microsoft IIS, SQL server and a custom lookup engine hooked up using named pipes. The claim is that adding a second processor produces a net decrease in performance or around 20% (as measured by wall clock time). Not being a IIS / or SQL server user, I don't have a clue. I said I'd ask in here. The contact is Larry Lopez +1 888 858-1787. He's a former deccie. Please forward this as desired to get to the proper folks. Steveg

So, did they configure SQL Server to run on a 4100? You can't just install it and walk away... (Well, you can but you can't expect to have any kind of performance) Mary Jo | |||||

No idea. I just got the voice mail and agreed to forward the issue onward. I don't know squat about SQL server (other than my Signficant Other works for Oracle so I constantly hear that SQL server is junk but not much on what kind of junk :-) |
