I have a customer with an AlphaServer 4000 5/300 where I'm trying to
install a Digiboard PC/XEM ISA for RAS setup.
If NT 4.0 machine reboots after running the ECU then the NT 4.0 crashes.
I can see the login prompt about 5 seconds (Ctrl+Alt+Del) with Microsoft
NT Server 4.0 banner. Sorry I forgot the exact crash data at this time.
If I remove the PC/XEM config at ECU then the machine starts without error.
I've tried all the possible combinations of IO port address and memory
map. The 4000 is running ArcBIOS 5.28. NT 4.0 is holding Service Pack 1
only. I've already tried with the latest HAL but the result was same.
Any one got any ideas on what to try next? Can the Service Update Pack 2
resolve the crash problem?
Any comment greatly appreciated.

Currently, the EISA Digiboard PC/XEM is not supported. The AlphaBIOS
5.30 release will fix this problem. If the user is trying to install
the ISA-based Digiboard PC/XEM (Digital PN CXI01), then they must
perform the following:
1) Install NT 4.0 SP2. NT 4.0 SP2 is available from MS Web site
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/fixes/usa/nt40/ussp2/alpha/.
2) Install NT 4.0 SP2 hotfix. This will also install the latest HAL. The NT 4.0
SP2 hotfix is available from MS Web site:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/fixes/usa/nt40/hotfixes-postsp2/alpha-fix.
3) Install the PC/XEM in the system.
4) Do Not run the ECU. If they have previously run the ECU to add the config
data for the PC/XEM, rerun the ECU and remove the PC/XEM configuration data.
5) Boot the system and install the Digiboard PC/XEM drivers (and Ports
concentrator module if applicable).

May I ask you one more question?
When does the 5.30 firmware release available?
The customer is using international version of WNT4.0 with SP1 and the
SP2 is not available currently
