A customer initially purchased a 4100 pedestal system and now as they expand, they are worried about the footprint. Since they have some budgeted money, (among other things) they are considering replacing the pedestal with a cabinet retaining the system drawer, shelves, etc. They are also considering clustering in the future. I have currently configured the following - H9A10-ED CK-BA30A-AA CK-H9A10-EB In addition to that, do I need any other components such as - IEC to IEC power cords for the StorageWorks shelves. - The pedestal & cabinet StorageWorks shelf part nos are different. What is the part no of the mounting kit necessary to convert a BA36R-SB to a BA36R-RA. Is there anything else to be kept in mind in converting a pedestal to a cabinet based system. Thanks in advance. Nandan

Nandan, do you plan to remove the OCP mezzanine tray from the top of the drawer before installing into the cab ? If you don't it will not fit in the mounting c-channel rails supplied. If you do then the OCP needs to be relocated and this means the removal of the internal cabling bulkhead and the rerouting of the internal cables. There is a long 10 connector blue ribbon cable (17-04201-01) which is needed when the internal bulkhead is removed. This is not installed in the pedestal systems but is required when configured for rack mounting. If that has not been shipped loose piece you will need to get one from somewhere. Les | |||||

Les, Thanks for your inputs. I had not thought of the OCP. Does the OCP mezzanine tray need any other mounting kit for mounting in a cabinet ? As you say, if the customer has not kept the cable - 17-04201-01 - carefully, then it would be difficult to find one. Any other cables that are needed ? To other note readers - Going back to my note - .0, any other IEC to IEC power cords or anything else needed ? (By the way, I am curious to know about IEC power cords. Whats special about them. When I try to find out some info thru' Altavista, other than the standards body - IEC - I find it only in connection with 4100. Is this used only in the 4100 & not in any other system ?) Thanks in advance. Nandan |
