RE .0
The DNSES is an EISA option. Adding PCI slots will not help.
I suggest you look at the PBXDP-**. It comes in three flavors
2port (-AA), 4 port 9-AB) , and 8 port (-AC) per card. I don't see it
on the 4*** supported options list as yet. I would contact the PM and
ask when and if the PBXDP will be supported on the 4000.

| PBXDP is in qualification now. There are some vendor supply issues
that we are currently working. Try John Eyemaro or Bill Gens in
option product management if you need more information.

| Hello ,
I forgot one information in my first question :
I absolutely need to have DNSES because of DECSS7 support .
Today , the Telecom customer has Alphaservers 2100 but now
they are end of life .
In the Alphaserver 4000 , there are 3 PCI/EISA slots .
Is it possible to put 3 DNSES , is it supported ?
( the SOC says 2 are supported , but I think it is because there
is the KZPDA in one of the 3 combo slots ).
In case it is supported , I will propose him another SCSI controller.
In the 8 PCI slot upgrade ( DH-53Z2A-AA ) , is there also EISA/PCI
slots , is it possible ( supported ) to add DNSES ( how many ) ?
Thanks in advance ,
Best Regards ,
Jean-Marie.

| I assume from your notes that you arere PCI 0 slot bound because the
customer wants more than one KZPDA and there's currently a requirement
of no more than one KZPDA per PCI bus? Am also guessing you have a VGA
in PCI 0 (required to be in PCI 0, if present) ?
Assuming three DNSES are support versus two, you could remove VGA to
get back a slot. You could also add the AlphaServer 4000 I/O expansion
(two more four-slot PCI buses) and put the KZPDA in one of these buses.
Note that the I/O expansion does not permit any more than two CPUs and
two memory slots (max of 4GBs of memory).
Who can answer Jean-Marie's original question re: max number of DNSES's
officially supportedd on 4000/4100?

Subj: RE: Any reason why 3 DNSES shouldn't work?
Todd,
I can't think of a reason why 3 wouldn't work..The 2100 could handle 5,
so the WANND and X25 products handled the multiples okay..
It would be good to ask what other options (high speed IO) are in the
system. They would all be in hose 1 with the one remaining slot in hose 0
being required for the graphics adapter..

RE .2
So, It's SS7, We have a solution for you. Talk to Hilary
Baldock right there in Annecy. She is the Project Manager that is
productizing a custom product we, CSS US, did with the DECss7 folks
in VBO. The board is a four port PCI adapter with a V.35 electrical
interface. VBO did the ss7 firmware and CSS USA did a Digital UNIX
driver for it. We did this for a large US telecom and it is now being
delivered to a large UK telecom. Hilary's job is to make it a world
wide product.
The CSS part number for the PCI adapter is 2T-PT334-FA.
