544.1 | Try V4.8 console? | HARMNY::CUMMINS | | Mon Mar 24 1997 13:24 | 16 |
| Have not seen this one before. My belief is that this may well be related
to the problem described in note 515.*. if so, then upgrading to V4.8-5
or V4.8-6 SRM console should fix the problem. I assume the CPUs in said
machine are running at either 400 or 466 MHz? If not, then the problem
described in note 515 is likely not the issue here. If so, then try V4.8
console and let me know the results.
Finally, there is no such animal as V3.08 SRM console. Presumably, the
field engineer meant V3.0-10? Or did he mean V4.8-XX? Valid SRM console
versions are:
V1.0-9 # early seeds, very first few revenue units
V1.2-3 and -4 # V1.2-3 on V3.6 CD; V1.2-4 to fix HW issue
V2.0-3 # V3.7 CD
V3.0-10 # V3.8 CD
V4.8-5 and -6 # V4.8-5 on V3.9 CD; V4.8-6 to fix 466 MHz HW issue

On the origonal installation the optional power supply was installed in
slot 1. Only recently when a scsi card was installed did it complain
about power supply 2 on boot.. Tech will move the optional
supply from slot 1 to slot 2

Did moving the optional power supply from slot 1 to slot 2 actually fix
this problem? I know that the installation order is 0,2,1, but I
thought that was for optimal cooling only; I didn't think that it
mattered to the firmware which order the P/S'es were installed. Also, I
remember seeing a machine with the single P/S installed in slot 1, and
the fw didn't complain about PS0 not being present.
Can someone from the power or fw group comment on this?

One more thought is that the tech plugged the cables for PS #2 into
PS# 1 and you really do have a bad power supply.
