534.0. "KZPSC shelf error caused by KZPDA ?" by KAOFS::D_ORMAECHEA (Denis Ormaechea... Montreal MCS) Thu Mar 13 1997 21:43
I have the following problem at two different sites on Alphaserver 4000
with two BA356 and two SCSI controllers (KZPSC-B,KZPDA).
When the KZPSC and the KZPDA are both connected to the same BA356 box configured
in spilt bus mode, the KZPSC logs errors on the channel that is sharing the
shelf. You can notice that the SHELF_OK signal is bad , by looking at the led
on the shelf's power supply. As soon as you disconnect the cable on the KZPDA,
the led comes on. I have isolated the problem at both sites at the KZPDA pcb.
I simply suspect that the KZPDA does not support the SHELF_OK signal
from the BA356 (probably grounding this unnused signal) and the KZPSC at the
other end need this grounded signal, and sees a fault. Could somebody provide
me a fix fot this ?
Thanks in advance !

| The only controller that processes SHELF_OK is the KZPSC. The
KZPDA does not. You seem to have detected an incompatibility. I do
not know if there is a fix. But you might want to set the jumper
on the BA356 to not process SHELF_OK.
