Hi all. We are trying to decode a CPU EXCEPTION code 620 with "Machine Check Decoder Program" V0.3 10/25/96, but we have a problem. The program asks for "Function Register" and "Failure Register" values. The DECevent version is 2.3, UNIX 3.2F and firmware CD-V3.8. Anybody knows where are this values in the errlog entry? Thanks in advance.

The machine check program doesn't presently do a good job of distinguishing between the types of 620 machine checks. If the DECevent output says 'environmental registers present', then the function and failure registers should be there. If they're not there, just enter zeroes and ignore all the messages about power supply and fan failures and over temperatures. I intend to fix this among other problems with the program, but I'm slightly busier than the swapper on a 32 MB Alpha right now. :) Martin Moore Digital UNIX Support Group Atlanta CSC |
