498.0. "AS41000 with keyboard and mouse not working" by ALFAM7::SIEBOLD (Thomas, TSO Munich - ALPHAholics can not be VAXinated!) Tue Feb 18 1997 09:01

While setting a AS41000 5/300, 128MB, Abios 5.24 there were situation when,
after a reboot, sometimes during normal work, the console and mouse did not
accept user input, e.g. were 'dead'. After a reboot this symptom was gone.

The event log showed an entry with timeout for the keyboard. This entry lists
the i8042prt as 'culprit'.

Any ideas what went wrong here? Or what we can do to fix this? These systems go
to a big fair an the Microsoft booth to demo DEC Cluster for NT with SQL, and
they should/must work!

thanks
	Thomas

A little more info please. What NT version and what if any service
packs have been applied? Is it a MP or UP?

You says "systems". Is there more than one system and if so, is it
happening only on one system or on more than one system?

Well the systems run NTserver V4.0 with SP2 applied. They are both UP systems.
We have now changed the IO board and things seem to be fine (at least the
customer tells me so!)
