489.1 | 5 KZPSAs and 1 KZPDA | WASHDC::RKLING | | Thu Feb 13 1997 13:43 | 4 |
| I'm also assuming that 5 KZPSAs and the existing KZPDA is a legal configuration.
Under UNIX/VMS

| RE: .0 6 KZPSAs have been used in our lab, it's a configuration limit,
not a UNIX limit. You'll have to take one of the embedded options out
to do this. It works but it's not officially supported.
RE: .1 Yes, 5 KZPSAs and 1 KZPDA is supported.

489.3 | What about Durango? | VNZV01::IRODRIGUEZ | | Mon Mar 10 1997 13:05 | 6 |
| Hi,
Given we can add 8 more PCI slots to the 4000s, Is it possible to use
more (than 5) KZPSAs in a Durango (4000 with 16 PCI slots)?

489.4 | Option maximums likely won't increase for Durango at FRS | MOVMON::DAVIS | | Mon Mar 10 1997 18:03 | 7 |
| There's a long answer for this which will come later, but the short
answer is not yet. We're currently looking into which adapters need to
have their maximums increased. KZPSA is one of them. It is possible
that none of the Rawhide supported options maximums will be increased
for Durango at its FRS.

489.5 | Any dates when more than 5 KZPSA's in 4000 available? | TRUCKS::PARMAR | I'm so fast - I'm even fast asleep | Tue Apr 01 1997 08:31 | 8 |
| re .-1
Now that the FRS date has arrived for the 4000 and the additional
backplane announced, what is the likely hood of more than 5 KZPSA's
being supported? We have got two projects that are screaming from more
than 5 KZPSA's and in one case 8.

489.6 | can we add more SUPPORTED KZPSAs ? | MUNICH::MATTHES | Tomas Matthes NSIS MMEC Munich Germany | Thu Jun 05 1997 10:06 | 16 |
| Hi,
our customer has exactly the same questions and I wasn't able to get an
answer until now.

Btw, running OpenVMS, where the SPD 29.78.15 states on page 8 :
>> The maximum number of multihost SCSI buses that a CPU can be
>> connected to is 12.
Thanks for a reply

489.7 | Working on it | MOVMON::DAVIS | | Thu Jun 05 1997 11:27 | 10 |
| There is qual work going on now to increase the maximum number of
KZPSAs to 8, and possibly more.
Part of the problem with all these slots is getting disks and shelves
to attach for the qual. Mostly resource issues are causing delays for
this type of testing. We tried to prioritize which adapters need
their maximum increased, based on demand and available people and
equipment resources.

| I would expect another 4-6 weeks, although please don't take this as a
commitment or base any sales on this estimate.
Thanks,
