451.0. "CDE Windows too large on 4100" by CHR27::YEUNG (im2bz2p,ru?) Wed Jan 29 1997 17:21

My customer is running Alpha/VMS V6.2, Motif V1.2-4 on his 4100.
It has the factory installed S3 Trio (PB2GA-JB) graphics adapter
and my customer uses a VRC21-WA display.
He complains that all the windows appear way too large.
For example, the CDE login box takes up the whole screen,
and he couldn't fit a DECwrite page on the display.

He claims he has changed DECW$SERVER_DENSITY and
DECW$MONITOR_DENSITY in DECW$PRIVATE_SERVER_SETUP.COM,
but it did not make any difference.

Any hints?
Are there any DIP switches to set on the board to fix this problem?
No documentation was included with the graphics board, where can I get a copy?

Thanks

    We're having the same problem with Motif, two systems. One is running
    with the 15" monitor, and it seems passable. The other is running the
    standard card, but with a 17" monitor. Setting the various different
    densities hasn't done anything for us either. You're probably running
    VMS V6.2-1H3, BTW. The Rawhide won't work with vanilla V6.2
