215.0. "IPS Netscape Comm.Serv. system error during installation." by PRIVAT::ANCA () Tue May 06 1997 05:31
Hello everybody,
I have installed from the "Internet Product Suite - CD "
the Netscape Communication Server .
The operating System is an OpenVMS AXP v6.2.
I execute the procedure ns-setup.com without problems .
--->>> Netscape HTTP Server for OpenVMS
Version 1.12
There are two phases when installing/upgrading the Netscape Server
on OpenVMS:
- Phase 1 involves setting up and/or checking the correct environment
on the OpenVMS system or cluster, in preparation for running the
standard Netscape Server installation/upgrade procedure.
- Phase 2 is the standard Netscape Server installation/upgrade
procedure. You need to interact with it via a Web Browser such
as the Netscape Navigator.
If you are installing/upgrading on an OpenVMS Cluster you must run
Phase 1 for each system disk in the cluster and Phase 2 once for each
hardware platform (VAX or Alpha).
You are running Phase 1 now. At the end you will be asked if you want
to invoke Phase 2.
It is strongly recommended that this procedure be run from
the SYSTEM account. Execution of the procedure will continue...
This product requires the NS-COMMUNICATIONS license.
Do you have that license loaded [N]: y
Copying NETSCAPE CRTL image to SYS$LIBRARY...
You will now be prompted for the server port number, server directory and
server account. If installing/upgrading on an OpenVMS Cluster, you MUST
answer these questions the same for each instance of the server in the
OpenVMS Cluster.
For an install, enter the port number that this Netscape Server will use.
The default for the COMMUNICATIONS server is 80.
For an upgrade, enter the existing port number in use by the server.
Enter port [80]:
Enter the location (device and directory) in which you want the Netscape
Server files installed. If this is an upgrade, enter the existing Netscape
server root directory.
In an OpenVMS Cluster, this location MUST be accessible from ALL nodes in
the cluster. Digital strongly recommends that you do NOT use SYS$COMMON or
similar logicals because these logicals can translate to different
directories on different nodes in the cluster. Be sure that you answer this
question the same each time you install the server in the OpenVMS Cluster.
Enter the top level directory for the Server to use (for example,
DISK$CLUSTER:[NETSCAPE]). That directory will be created for you if it
doesn't already exist.
Note that if you are running multiple Netscape servers on this system or
cluster (using different ports), the same top level directory must be used
for all of the servers.
Enter top level directory for the server: dsa210:[ns-home]
Creating/Checking directory tree structure...
You must specify an account from which the server will run. If you are
running multiple servers on this system or cluster (using different ports)
then you need a separate account for each server. If this is an upgrade,
enter the existing server account.
Enter account name [HTTPD_80]:
Checking the HTTPD_80 account...
An account HTTPD_80 already exists.
Do you want to use this account [Y]:
If you want to start the server from your system startup file, add the line:
$ @DSA210:[NS-HOME.COMMON.HTTPD-80]START
Phase 1 of the installation is complete.
If this is a new installation, during Phase 2 you will have to enter the
Server Port, Server Location, Server User (account) and Document Root.
Based upon the configuration that was built during Phase 1, you should use:
Server Port: 80
Server Location: DSA210:[NS-HOME.ALPHA]
Server User: HTTPD_80
Document Root: DSA210:[NS-HOME.COMMON.DOCS]
Phase 2 of an INSTALLATION moves the Netscape Server files from the
distribution media to the installation root you specified in Phase 1,
and configures the server according to information that you provide.
Phase 2 of an UPGRADE also moves the Netscape Server files from the
distribution media to the installation root you specified in Phase 1,
but does NOT configure the server. Instead your existing configuration
is preserved.
If you have already run Phase 2 of the installation/upgrade process for
this version of this server, and on this installation root and hardware
platform, you do not need to run it again.
Do you want to run Phase 2 of the installation [Y]: y
Starting Phase 2 (Netscape's NS-SETUP program)...
Netscape Communications Corporation
Netscape Communications Server QuickStart installation.
To start the installation, you must enter your machine's full name.
A full name is of type <hostname>.<domainname> such as foobar.widgets.com
If you are part of an OpenVMS Cluster, do NOT enter the IP alias here.
To accept the default in brackets, press return.
Full name [munaxp.muh.dec.com]:
All configuration for the server will be done through a forms-capable
network browser. Open your chosen browser and connect to the
installation server using hostname munaxp.muh.dec.com and the port number.
The URL format is http://munaxp.muh.dec.com:XXXX, where XXXX is the port number
that the server will respond to.
