		Report on Windows NT Clustering

			using DMCC.

Introduction
------------
As part of options qual the Windows NT Clustering configuration.

Software Required
------------------
Windows NT 3.51 Server CD
Windows NT 3.51 Service pack 5 ( Available for Microsoft Web site)

Digital Clusters for Windows NT 1.0
Digital Clusters for Windows NT 1.0 Service Pack 2

Equipment Used
--------------
System 1	( Windows Nt 3.51 Domain Controller )

	EBM37-PA	200Mhz Intel Pentium 512K cache
	ETMXB-AA	7-slot PICMG Backplane (on-board scsi)
	EBPXM-AD	64Mb memory
	DE450-CA	PCI Ethernet Card
     SN-PCXAG-AD	Matrox Millenium Video Card
SWXA3-BC	Adaptec 2944W FWD Scsi Controller

System 2	( Windows NT 3.51 server )

	EBM37-PA	200Mhz intel Pentium 512K cache
	ETMXB-AB	14-slot backplane ( 7 PCI, 6 ISA, 1 CPU )
     SN-PCXAG-AD	Matrox Millenium Video Card
SWXA3-BC	Adaptec 2944W FWD Scsi Controller
	KZPAA-AA	Single ended scsi controller
	DE450-CA	PCI Ethernet Card

As well as the above configuration the following components were use for
the shared storage.

BA364-AB	Enclosure, 4 high expansion box
2xRZ28M-VW	2.1Gb Wide Scsi disk in stroageworks box
DWZZB-VW	16 bus SCSI bus extender and signal converter
      2xBN21K-02	Scsi Cable
      2xBN21W-0B	Split cable
      2x H879-AA	Scsi Terminator
	 H885-AA	Tri-Link adapter

Set-Up
------

Both systems were set up before the shared storage was configured and
connected.

Step 1 - Configure System 1
---------------------------
Windows NT 3.51 Server was installed and setup to be the domain
controller.Windows Nt 3.51 service pack 5 was installed once the
configuration was built.

Step 2 - Configure System 2
---------------------------
This was built as a normal Windows NT 3.51 server running off the domain
controlled by system 1 ( This system was added to the domain).
As above the Windows Nt 3.51 Service pack 5 was installed.

At this point both servers were shut down.

Step 3 - Cable the shared storage up
------------------------------------
At this point both servers were cabled up to the shared storage box.

Step 4 - Install cluster software on Systems
--------------------------------------------
Windows NT Cluster software ver 1.0 was installed on the systems as per
the installation instructions.

Once we followed the instructions for NT cluster software installation
the NT cluster service pack was then installed (required for NT 3.51
service pack 5).

Testing
-------
In order to test the configuration shared disks were set up. The Domain
controller was then shut down in an orderley manner.

System 2 then took control of the disks.

System 1 was then switched back on again, and after a short period of
time control of the shared disks then passed back to it. ( This is
configurable via a menu screen)
