164.0. "Project Rushmore EMC Class B issue" by SHRCTR::HAGER () Mon Feb 03 1997 16:13
After completing the EMC Qualification testing for Rushmore, we have
discovered that the boards failed FCC B testing by 1db. Unfortunately, it might
just as well have been 100db because we cannot place a CE B sticker on the
board until we can clearly pass FCC B requirements.
We have identified several areas where improvements can be made and a
quick turnaround design effort is underway at Prolog to incorporate all the
suggested improvements. We expect to have an FCC B saleable product ready for
customer delivery by April'97. Our choices at the moment are to delay shipment
of Rushmore for another 2 months while we correct the problem, or to ship FCC A
products to those customers who do not have an FCC B requirement.
Our recommendation is to continue to sell and deliver an FCC A product
until such time as an FCC B product is available. Hopefully, this does not
seriously impact any prospective customers, as it is unlikely that they would
be in a run-rate situation within 2 months. However, we need to understand the
issues that such a strategy raises so that we can develop an appropriate action
plan to satisfy your particular situation.
Please send me your issues and concerns so that we can begin the
task of resolving the short-term issues you could be faced with over the
next two months.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Harold
