977.0. "Error 183 and more..." by NNTPD::"[email protected]" (Christoph Wittmer) Tue May 27 1997 10:16

Since I installed PAW 3.0 on a server with SMS 1.2 I get the following error
message (Event Log):

Event-ID: 5072

(PAW System Mail: 1286)
Unable to launch LSFC.EXE to collect files from clients. The following command
line was used:
 E:\SMS\site.srv\alpha.bin\LSFC.EXE /S:ISVMIF.BOX\PAW
/D:E:\PAW\sysmail\fromclnt /P:301 /T:5
The Win32-specific error code returned by GetLastError() is 183.
This is a serious error. POLYCENTER AssetWORKS System Mail will not deliver
inbound files from clients until this is repaired.

Is this a bug? Or what went wrong?

Regards - Christoph

Just a couple of quick questions...

Are you dealing with an alpha client?
If so, did you install alpha client support when you installed SMS?

977.2Are they persistent???ESSB::RJOYCETue May 27 1997 13:1623
    Hi Christoph,

See 965 above, I got those from Alpha systems when I was at a
particular Customer some weeks back doing rebuilds. The command could
complete successfully when run from within a DOS box, but the event
implied it was not completing successfully by the service. I was worried,
because without the LSFC I expected that the CSU files would never make
    it back up.

Will not be at this site for another two weeks about, but rang them
last week and those events have not appeared for weeks!!! Have been
told that the services were running, so if it were a persistent problem
would have expected to see them many times every day....

I also included that event in an e-mail I sent to C.A. last week.

Please reply to let us know if the event keeps appearing.

    Have fun,
