973.0. "SMS Console ??" by NNTPD::"[email protected]" () Fri May 02 1997 11:49

Hi,

Just a queries. Is it possible to setup a PC client to be as a SMS console.
Which we can log-on to the SMS Administrator and managed the SMS from the PC
client. There is a request from the customer to do it. If anyone has an answer
to this question, pls advise.

The server has been installed with Windows NT 4.0(SP1), SMS V1.2(SP1), PAW
V2.0
SQL Server V6.5(SP1)in an AlphaServer 1000. Is it OK ! Pls advise.

Best Regards,

Azza

Yes, the SMS Admin UI can be installed on a PC.

However, please note that the PC must be running Windows NT
Workstation or Server.

There is a 3rd-party product from Computing Edge that allows the SMS
Admin UI to be run on a Windows 95 client, but I don't believe that
the POLYCENTER AssetWORKS pieces will operate in that environment.

973.2Any issues with Alpha installation kit ?NNTPD::"[email protected]"Sun May 04 1997 10:4219
Hi Dave,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Just need an additional info regarding the
3rd party software, that can control the SMS Admin UI from the PC.

Is there any issues if the SMS software that has been installed in the server
is
using the Alpha installation kit, whereas the PC is running under intel
platform?
Pls advise.

May i know, what is the name of the 3rd party software.

Cheers !!

Azza

    If you're talking about the Windows 95 administration software, see

Shouldn't be. This is pretty standard.

Check out their web site at www.computingedge.com. I think that all of your
questions will be answered.
