I received word from CA today that most POLYCENTER products will "run" on
V7.1 today, but they don't "officially support" V7.1. The engineers must
go in and make sure the products take advantage of certain new features
in the operating system. The POLYCENTER Console Manager has some issues,
but the Performance Advisor has some big problems at this time. None of the
other products are affected much and can probably be run on V7.1 today.
Just don't promise that CA officially supports them on V7.1 because they
don't as of today.
I have ordered the V7.1 CDROM for CA and will get it to them as soon as
SSB delivers it to me. They are in the process of sizing and scheduling
the engineering work now. One thing you could do to impress CA with the
importance of V7.1 support is to fill out a CA DAR (Demand Analysis Request)
form. This is CA's vehicle for imputing and evaluating customer requirements
for future version. This is a simple one page form that takes about 10 minutes
to fill out. Send e-mail to me with your DTN FAX number and I will send you
the form. FAX it back to me when you have completed it. Please do one form
per customer. Let's flood CA with these forms so we can get some attention
on this V7.1 issue.

| I just received a call from CA and the following products will be supported
on OpenVMS V7.1. Be advised that all of these releases are currently in
field test (beta) and are scheduled for release in March 1997.
o Performance Advisor V2.3
o Data Collector V2.3
o Accounting Chargeback V2.3
o Console Manager V1.7
o Scheduler Server V2.2
o Scheduler Agent V2.2
