Promise Keepers '96: "Break Down the Walls!"

Registration Is Now Open For Twenty-two Cities

The international Christian ministry for men has announced it's 1996
conference schedule. Promise Keepers is a Christ-centered ministry
dedicated to uniting men through vital relationships to become godly
   influences in their world.

The conference theme for 1996 is "Break Down the Walls", based on the
scripture reference in Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 2:14. "For He
Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the
barrier, the dividing wall of hostility ...".

President of Promise Keepers Randy Phillips said, "There are centuries-
old walls built of pain, hurt, neglect, and abuse. Our desire is to
exalt the person of Christ and power of the cross in a way that breaks
down the walls that exist brother-to-brother, brother-to-sister, and
   church-to-church."

The Chairman of Promise Keepers' Board of Directors Bishop Phillip
   Porter added that the concept of reconciliation is more than a headline;
it must be demonstrated among Christians. "As the Church goes, God has
ordained that the world goes. Reconciliation must be dealt with as
individually and as personally as the sin question. We've got to deal
   with it."

Founder of Promise Keepers Bill McCartney said the key to breaking down
the walls in homes and communities begins _not_ with a movement, but in
the relationship between a man and Almighty God, "The fact is, men are
as isolated as ever. Our culture has convinced men they can go it alone.
The fact is until we are reconciled to God we can never be reconciled to
our families and brothers. Revival starts in the heart of one man."

The 1996 Promise Keepers Conference Schedule follows as the first reply.

According to the '96 conference material I received Saturday, the
Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis conferences are
already full. Due to the overwhelming response, additional 1996
     events are being considered.

Again, let me urge you to register _now_ if you plan on attending one
of the '96 conferences. There are two ways to register by telephone:

	1. Use the automated regustration system at 1-800-239-7028; you
will need to know your constituent number.

	2. If you do not know/have a constituent number call
            1-800-265-6023.

Telephone registrations are accepted with VISA or MasterCard only.
The fee is $60.00 this year, which includes your admission, a syllabus,
a 1996 worship cassette tape, a post-conference video, and lunch on
     Saturday.

P.S. RE: .2 I'm sorry, Mike, that the PK folks haven't (yet) included
Phoenix on the conference schedule - pray for next year!

How many of you have heard anything on the news about last weekend's Promise
Keepers for pastors convention? One would think that an unbiased media would
consider it newsworthy. It was the largest gathering of clergy in the
history of the USA (possibly the world) - 40,000 pastors, which represents
10% of the pastors in the country. If each pastor represents a congregation
of 200, the pastors represent 8 million people. Newsworthy, No? Apparently
the media doesn't think so.

One thing I heard about it that was pretty cool was a spontaneous singing of
"How Great Thou Art" by about 1000 pastors in an Atlanta subway station.
Apparently the sound in the tunnels was quite remarkable, and carried right
up out onto the street.

Paul, I heard about it from a pastor friend of mine (who didn't
    attend).

We'll just have another Harvest Crusade instead since PK isn't coming
to Phoenix ;-) I was more curious than anything else to experience it
firsthand. I'm not convinced yet it's a bad thing that they don't come
    to Phoenix.

My Pastor and his son attended. Pastor Dan then went on
vacation, so we have yet to hear a full update, but his
son (our Youth Pastor) really enjoyed it (and preached an
awesome WAKE UP call to us upon his return).

My husband has read the book "The Seven Promises of
a Promise Keeper", and has found nothing to cause him
concern. He is greatly encouraged by what he is learning.

    	(And I'm the lucky beneficiary ;-) )

I guess we're fortunate here, Mike.

We have Harvest in Colorado Springs, and PK in Denver.

Most of the harvest workers I know are also promisekeepers.

This year I intended to attend my first PromiseKeepers (Denver)
and I called as soon as I saw the 800- number (and the warning that
    	some are already full.)

A bunch of us from this office will be attending together.

(Yes, we are allowed to discuss issues religious here.)

    	cool, Joe!

Our church has reserved 100 tickets, and the men from our
home group are going en masse. Last night the ladies
told Jamie he had to go, because they all plan to spend
the weekend at my house while the husbands are gone ;-)
