809.0. "New Calendar?" by VAXRIO::JANSEN () Mon Oct 02 1995 14:35

    Hi,

Did anybody hear about a new calendar system to be applied next year?

I heard that some governments are evaluating the implementation of a
new system were each year would start in a Sunday 1st, would have
52 weeks of 7 days and a "null" day (to complete the 365 days for the
    year).

If such a thing is true, the impact would be on the people who "rest" in
a specific day of the week because the "real" day would float every
    year.

    Thanks for any information.

    Regards,

    Jansen Pinto.

That has been proposed for years and years.

There are no serious plans to implement it.

	Hmmm ...

In revelation we're told that the beast will change the times and
the seasons. Times and seasons have been changed a lot as it is,
but the 7-day cycle never has. The French tried to change the week
to a 10-day cycle after their bloody revolution, but it didn't
stick, so Robespierre couldn't have been *THE* beast, though he was
	certainly *A* beast. ;-)

In Revelation we're told that the beast will change the times and

Daniel 7:25 tells us that the antichrist will try to change the set times
and laws. One presumes, unsuccessfully!

The one who does this successfully gets a mention in Daniel 2:21! ;-)

Not surprising he wants to change the times - every time we write the date,
we get a reminder of abot how long it's been since Jesus walked the earth.
It's even printed on our coinage...

Russia tried a ten-day week too, which failed...

This is a case of where many get sidetracked by 1 factor. There are
several factors that all have to come into play at once to determine
    who the beast is.

BTW - Daniel gives enough information for the diligent to trace his
    family ancestors to Europe.

Well, that narrows it _right_ down ;')

Hmm, my ancestors came from Europe, Nathan's been acting pretty wild
    recently... hmmmmmmm

I've narrowed it down even further ;-)
