797.0. ""No one believes in me anymore"" by PAULKM::WEISS (For I am determined to know nothing, except...) Wed Sep 13 1995 11:08
I was sitting here listening to a Keith Green Song (what a loss!), and the
words just seemed to need to be spoken. This is the song:
"No one believes in me anymore"
Whoa my job keeps getting easier,
as time keeps slippin' away.
I can imitate the brightest light,
and make your night look just like day.
I put some truth in every lie,
to tickle itching ears.
You know, I'm drawing people just like flies,
'cause they like what they hear.
I'm gaining power by the hour,
they're falling by the score.
You know, it's getting very simple now,
since no one believes in me any more.
Whoa heaven's just a state of mind,
my books read on your shelf.
Oh have you heard that God is dead?
I made that one up myself.
They dabble in magic spells,
they get their fortunes read.
You know, they heard the truth, but turned away,
and they followed me instead.
I used to have to sneak around,
but now they just open their doors.
You know, no ones's watching for my tricks,
since no one believes in me any more.
Everyone likes a winner,
with my help you're guaranteed to win.
Hey man, you ain't no sinner,
no you've got the truth within.
And as your life slips by,
you believe the lie that you did it on your own.
But don't worry, I'll be there to help you share
our dark enternal home, our dark enternal home.
Whoa, my job keeps getting easier,
as day slips into day.
The magazines, the newspapers
print every word I say.
This world is just my spinning top,
it's all like child's play.
You know, I dream that it will never stop,
but I know it's not that way.
Still my work goes on and on,
oh it's stronger than before.
I'm going to make it dark before the dawn,
since no one believes in me any more.
Well I used to have to sneak around,
but now they just open their doors.
You know, no one's watching for my tricks,
since no one believes in me any more.
Well I'm gaining power by the hour,
they're falling by the score.
You know, it's getting very easy now,
since no one believes in me any more.
No one believes in me any more.
No one believes in me any more.

| Another song that reminds me of the deception many have placed
themselves under... (some of the words may be wrong - it's more than a
decade since I listend to the record ;')
Forget your Hexagram
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(c) Larry Norman - c~1967
(from the album "Upon this Rock")
Forget your hexagram,
you'll soon feel fine.
Stop lookin' at the stars,
you don't live under the sign.
Don't mess with gypsies,
or have your fortune read.
Keep your table on the floor!
and don't you listen to the dead!
You can't - hitch-hike your way to heaven,
the devil's closed the road.
You live once, you die once,
with no re-incarnate episode.
You can't hitch-hike to heaven,
or get there by just being good.
The rules were set down long ago,
when the spikes went in the wood!
Heaven is in your mind,
when Love is in your heart.
heaven [?] will change your mind,
but first you have to start...
You can't hitch-hike to heaven,
or get there by just being good.
The rules were set down long ago,
when the spikes went in the wood!
797.2 | It's OK Harry. Larry Forgot the words too! | TPSYS::DIPIETRO | | Thu Sep 14 1995 14:45 | 22 |
| RE: 797.1
Hey Harry,
Good to see another Larry Norman fan in here! You must really be (or
at least have been) a fan to remember that song. I haven't listened to
him in quite some time, but he was my very favorite when I was in
high school so loong ago (the garden? Nevermind :-) ).
Don't feel bad about being a little fuzzy on the words of Forget Your
HExagram. I was at one of Larry's concerts almost ten years ago out
here. It wasn't a very big crowd, so he asked for requests from the
audience. Someone actually requested Forget Your Hexagram sort of 1/2
seriously. Larry just laughed and replied that he forgot the words to
it. Then the guy requested Blue shoes White, then Larry just laughed
and ignored him from then on out.
BTW, does anyone know how he is doing these days? I heard that he had
a pretty severe heart attack about 3 years ago or so.
Cheers,
Guido
| Paul,
I agree - Keith Greens death was such a loss. It's funny, last night I
started reading his biography again - it's stirring me up already. I
think my favourite song of his is this one:
Do you see, do you see
All the people sinking down
Don't you care, don't you care
Are you gonna let them drown
How can you be so numb, not to care if they come
You close your eyes and pretend the jobs done
Bless me Lord, bless me Lord
You know it's all I ever hear
No-one aches, no-one hurts
No-one even sheds one tear
But He cries, He weeps, he bleeds
And He cares for your needs
But you just lay back and keep soaking it in
Oh, can't you see it's such sin
'Cos He brings people to your door
And you turn them away as you smile and say
"God bless you, be at peace"
And all heaven just weeps
'Cos Jesus came to your door - you left Him out on the street
Open up, open up, and give yourself away
You see the neeed, you hear the cries so how can you delay
God's calling and you're the one
But like Jonah you run
He's told you to speak but you keep holding it in.
Oh, can't you see it's such a sin
The world is sleeping in the dark
But the church just can't fight, 'cos it's asleep in the light
How can you be so dead, when you've been so well fed
Jesus rose from the dead, but you
YOU CAN'T EVEN GET OUT OF BED
Don't we need that kind of a voice in this generation!!
Love
Ben
