| ... the history of the Knights Templar
All I've heard is that there is a link with Freemasonry there, the Knights
Templar being forced underground, to re-emerge in another group. I don't
have the details to hand, so can't substantiate this without looking stuff
up, but it would tie in with strange ideas and a socially impressive
membership list...

Keep in mind and haven't read this book or others like it, but I would
be interested in knowing does the book go into what they feel the
motivation would be to live your life and perhaps even lose it
protecting a lie? I mean, would you put your life on the line for
a lie??

I realize that, that's why I didn't answer my own question. But since
you have read the book, it should be easy for you to answer it. So
again what is the suggested motivation for living and possibly dying
for a lie?
> The book is about a *historical fact*.
Fact? Since I'm unfamiliar with this can you explain what makes this
a fact rather than a story?
Thanks, Jill

In addition to the books listed previously, Michael Baigent is also
co-author with Richard Leigh of "The Dead Sea Scrolls Deception."

| Reply 210.6 in kolfax::books is a good assessment of this book.
Here is one paragraph about Baigent & Leigh's historical deductions
from that reply:
(Some examples of their conclusions from Biblical history:
Jesus wasn't born in a stable in Bethlehem, he was born in a well-to-do
home; he married Mary Magdalene -- who, by the way, was the sister
of Lazarus, who Jesus supposedly raised from the dead, only he wasn't
dead... you see, it was a hoax worked out by Jesus... it was just
part of an initiation rite that Lazarus was locked up in a tomb,
totally embalmed and wrapped in death linen... his crucifixion
was also a hoax... he never died, but only fainted and was revived
later; the "Barrabas" of history at the time of his crucifixion
was actually Jesus' own son (even though Barrabas was known to be
an adult at the time, and Jesus was only 33!!)... and on and on
and on.)

| Indeed JimBro,
it would seem to me to require _more_ Faith to believe some of those
things, than to believe the 'Traditional Gospel' story. I'm gald I
don't have _that_ much Faith. I'm glad mine's only the size of a mustard
seed ;')

Hmmm. And what if I forged a copy of a birth certificate and leave it
to be found by later generations. That is then proof that this person
existed? :-)

| A friend of mine saw a TV programme about this several years ago (it
was before I was saved so I didn't pay particular attention to it).
What I can remember is that the Knights Templar are connected (if not
the same as) the freemasons. The higher you get in the masons the more
secrets you are trusted with and the more loyal you are expected to be
to the cause. The BIG secret which only the real BIG masons know is
that Jesus didn't die, he settled down with Mary Magdelene and had
kids. His messianic line has continued throughout history, in hiding in
France, ready for a day when the masons will reveal to the world the
'messiah' - a direct descendant of Jesus.
Of course it's a load of rubbish and we all know how the real Messiah
is returning, however it may be a clue as to the antichrists identity.
Bless y'all

| RE:-2
I guess that was the reason why I brought up the subject in the first place.
When I read about the Knights Templars/Freemasons/Prieure de Sion I was really
floored by the potential for this secret society to be the vehicule that would
"introduce" the antichrist as a "New World" leader. The way this group
manipulates history is very dangerous for all of Christianity.

| I've read books which tie in the freemasonry as carrying on a tradition
from the Knights Templar. However, the 'big secret' I've read as offered
by the 32nd degree masons is that Jesus and Lucifer are one and the same.
I believe I've quoted the source at length here some time ago. Maybe I'll
find a pointer...

refutes "Holy Blood Holy Grail". He does have a interesting Christian
spin to this grail thing.
