| Yes, Nancy, I've heard of a Religious Equality Amendment in the
works. James Dobson (Focus on the Family) published a draft in his
newsletter. Ralph Reed (Christian Coalition) is said to be marshalling
his forces for this (from an article in Time magazine).
The proposed amendment to the US Constitution is based on the
growing conviction that "school prayer" is not enough, that what we need
to do is guarantee the right of every student in every school to freely
express his or her faith in God.

Nancy, where do they wear satanic symbols in school? I haven't seen or
heard about that out this way.
As far as carrying guns and knives goes, they would be arrested if they
we caught with them. To use this in the analogy like it's an accepted thing is
really pushing it, don't you think? (ie can't have bible, but carry guns &
knives)
And with foul language, if it's done in front of a teacher, the kid is
reprimanded. If a kid wants to pray, just do it quietly.
Now with the shirts, would you be upset if a kid came into school with
a, "Satan Rules Me" t-shirt? If you would, then I can't for the life of me see
how you could be upset that someone couldn't wear a John 3:16 t-shirt cuz in
both cases, someone is taking offense. NOW, if you feel it would be ok to allow
the t-shirt, then yeah, I see your point.

Glen, have you seen the shirts teenagers are wearing now adays?
Many are of rock bands (and no I'm not against all rock music)
that are heavily satanic and the shirts have satanic symbols on
them. My neice whose in high school would never complain about
them, she would just think it was extremely sad. However, some
kids in my town are be harassed and told not to wear shirts with
christian messages. One girl a couple years ago was even told
by the school administration not to wear them. It had a great
effect because not only did she refuse, but many other kids
started wearing christian t-shirts. Had the school not backed
down, there would have been a lawsuit eventually. These kids
aren't asking that the other shirts be banned, but they feel that
if these kids can wear shirts with whatever message about life
and/or death they want, then so should they be able to.
