670.0. "Mass cards?" by ENGPTR::ANDERSON (There's no such place as far away) Tue Jan 31 1995 11:19

Hopefully this is the right conference to ask this.....

My grandfather just passed away. If I were home in NJ I'd go to the
Blue chapel in Union city and get a mass card from the cloistered nuns.
Is there any type of place similar to that in southern NH? Or will I
have to settle for a mass card from my local church?

    	thanks for any pointers....

Is the Blue Chapel a Catholic parish and will any Catholic parish do?
There are many of them in Nashua.

What is the Blue Chapel?

Hello Marianne,

My sympathy to you over the loss of your grandmother. May you know the
LORD's comfort and blessing.

However ... I think the conference you need for information about this is
probably :

			HASTUR::CATHOLIC-THEOLOGY

I believe that it is a general meeting place for the Catholic persuasion,
rather than just theology - just my belief!

Press 'SELECT' while reading this note to add it to your noteboook.

				God bless you

Thank you for you prayers and sympathy. Grandpa was 90+ years old, so
    it wasn't unexpected.

Sorry, I should have explained the Blue chapel a little better.... The
Blue Chapel is a cloister of Dominican Nuns. Their mass cards are
hand-drawn by the cloistered sisters and beautiful works of art. The
cards come in 2 types, a 1 year subscription and a perpetual
membership. This determines how long the sisters of the order will
offer mass/prayers for the deceased. A regular R.C. church will
usually just give you a mass card for 1 mass said in the name of the
    deceased.

As it turns out, they take phone orders. They are going to send my mom
the mass card. All they ask is that I send them a check for the card
and postage. They don't send out bill, just have faith that the money
    will be sent.

Thanks again for the prayers and pointers...
