645.0. "Mgmt Software??" by TMAKXO::THOHN () Tue Dec 20 1994 10:37

     I would like to get some advice, recomendations,warnings etc. about
    church management software programs. I have become the system manager
    for our computer system, which recently had the hard disk wiped out. I
    am rebuilding it from scratch, and would like to find a good, low
    cost management package to replace an ancient (1986) version of Files
    Express that has been used to record contributions, generate mailing
    lists, etc. I have been told a package would cost about $1k. We have a
    386DX with 8mb, a 5 1/4 and a 3 1/2 floppy, 105Mb hard disk, and a
    Canon BJ330 Bubble Jet printer. We have Wordperfect V4.2 (again,
    ancient), and I am getting ready to reinstall Windows V3.1 on top of
    DOS V6.0. I haven't seen anything on this unspiritual, yet necessary
    topic; if I am in the wrong conference, let me know. "In a multitude of
    counselors there is safety" God bless you all, and Merry CHRISTmas!!!

645.1Parsons TechnologySSDEVO::LAKETue Dec 20 1994 14:208
Our church uses Membership Plus by Parsons Technology. It has the advantage that
the financial information needs only to be entered once since it is compatible
with Parson's MoneyCounts. MoneyCounts does true fund accounting which is great
for a non-profit corporation. The only downside is that Parson's Technology was
just bought out by Intuit, Inc. which may or may not continue maintaining this
software.
