| The Bible contains 66 books written by 40 different authors over thousands of
years. As time goes by we discover more that EVERY DETAIL, EVERY NUMBER, EVERY
PLACEMENT, EVERY SUBTLETY OF THE TEXT IS THERE BY SUPERNATURAL ENGINEERING.
*ALL* Scripture is given by inspiration and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, and correction. We haven't begun to discover the detail, the power,
and the majesty of God's handiwork.

| Mike,
I too have had this really impressed upon me in recent months. It's a
treasure house of exciting revelation.
Ask and it will be given to you;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives;
he who seeks finds,
and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8

| > God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
The correlary is that God has never promised, in the Bible or elsewhere, to
reveal Himself to those who casually inquire about Him. :-) I personally am
not aware of anyone who has diligently sought the Lord and has not found Him.
In fact many people have set out to disprove God's existence and wound up
finding Him (Josh McDowell is a famous example). All the atheists and
agnostics I know are casual inquirers.

| Josh McDowell's "Evidence that Demands A Verdict vol. 1" lists some
others who have experienced this. One was a trial lawyer that went on
to the U.S. Supreme Court. He took it upon himself to put Jesus and
all the evidence "on trial." He discovered that it was unanimously in
favor of God.

| The author of "Who moved the Stone" was a similar case. He analysed the
Biblical evidence, in the historical context, and was saved some way into
writing. I really enjoyed that book...

| Another reason to be a Bible inerrantist and not a Bible basher: God
places His Word even above His own name!
Psalm 138:2
I will worship toward Thy holy temple, and praise Thy name for Thy
lovingkindness and for Thy truth: ***for Thou hast magnified Thy Word above
all Thy name.***

634.14 | | COVERT::COVERT | John R. Covert | Mon May 08 1995 15:48 | 12 |
| That's an interesting case where it looks like the KJV translators made a
mistake.
The immediately preceding translation, that of Coverdale, is:
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy Name,
because of thy loving-kindness and truth; for thou hast
magnified thy Name, and thy word, above all things.
Most other translations agree with this version.
