Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the
Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance
from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Subj: **URGENT** MESSAGE TO SEND OUT TO DCF
We are home schooling our children, and we belong to an organization
that keeps very close tabs on what is happening in Washington. It was
through this organization that we were informed this morning that
Congress is attempting to pass HR6 again today. First, trying to sneak
it through is not a very "democratic" process, but the worst part is
that it has some ammendments to it that affect home schoolers and
public schools alike, and should be disturbing to any Christian. One
addition states that home schoolers will be required to teach alternate
lifestyles, and the other addition is that PRIVATE prayer will be
banned from schools. It doesn't take a wizard to figure out the
ramifications of these additions.
If you are a registered voter, call your Congressman and Senators
TODAY! If you don't know how to contact them, FIND OUT! Call them
from work and charge it to your home phone - the few cents you will pay
is nothing compared to the religious freedom that will be lost if HR6
goes through. When calling, be polite. Simply state your name, that
you are a registered voter, and that you do not agree with the two
additions to HR6 regarding teaching alternate livestyles and the
banning of private prayer, and that you would like to see HR6 sent back
to the committee. They may or may not ask for your address (which is
used as verification that you are a registered voter).
It doesn't matter if you are home schooling or not, your Christian
convictions MUST be heard in Washington, or Satan will continue to
undermine this country and what it was built on.
Today is the last day of session, and we need to saturate their switch
boards so that they get the message that we as Christians will not
tolerate such things that undermine our freedom and Christion heritage!
The last time they they tried to pass this bill, they were so inundated
with phone calls they closed the session on it. We need to do it
again!

[Ed. note: This isn't really a prayer request (although prayer would be a
good idea!! :-), but the setup for DCF is such that "Urgent" newsletters
are only for prayer needs. So I'm treating this as a prayer request, as I
agree with Scott about the urgency of this. - Richard]

The house just voted yes on HR6 (see attached).
Senators should now be called URGENTLY at 202-224-3121 (Capitol
switchboard), per attached. No time to chat.

| Well, I've never called my senator before, much less to complain. But
I did on this one. Thanks for letting us know about it.

Question....H.R. 6 is the House bill number (H.R. = House Resolution)
Is there a number available for the Senate version of the bill ? It
helps to know these things when calling.

Hi, All.
I called Cong. Swett's office last Friday afternoon concerning this
matter. They assured me that it applies only to schools receiving
federal funds, and that private and home-schools were specifically
excluded from the provisions.
They also said that the final version of the language in question
would foster "neutrality" in government education's approach to
"lifestyles", that neither hetero nor [the converse] lifestyles
would even be portrayed in the government schools' texts.
Obviously, this is likely to be an extremely difficult tightrope
to walk.
Expect more outrageous and expensive litigation followed by more
idiotic and expensive legislation.
When it comes to school, there's no place like home.
Peace,
Tony

You are correct... but even so, I just received the 980 page bill in
the mail today and the references in .0 are incorrect at best.
The Bill itself is surprisingly conservative in values.
Haven't read all 980 pages, of course, but did check the section on
Sex Education and Prayer.

Seems a funny combination to lump together in education. Teaching them to
pray for a spouse?
