556.0. "Invitation: High Holy Days @ Melech Yisrael..." by POWDML::SMCCONNELL (Next year, in Jerusalem!) Fri Sep 02 1994 16:53
(note: this is an invitation so the topic is write-locked by
the basenoter. if you have specific questions or issues for
debate, feel free to contact me personally or start another
topic. thanks. steve)
While there is a standing invitation for anyone (Jew, Gentile, believer,
non-believer) to come to any of our services, I thought I'd make a special
invitation to the upcoming High Holy Days services we'll be celebrating at
Congregation Melech Yisrael (King of Israel). Again, all are welcome,
whether curious or furious :-)
Melech Yisrael is Worcester's Messianic Jewish synagogue (member Union of
Messianic Jewish Congregations); consisting of Jewish and Gentile followers
of Yeshua (Jesus of Nazareth). While the Torah is not observed for the
purpose of "earning righteousness" (since it isn't meant for that purpose),
we do observe the Biblical commands of Torah as its pictures of Yeshua are
rich and meaningful.
The High Holy Days are all the fall feasts you'll find in Leviticus 23. If
you'd like to take part; you're more than welcome. Unless otherwise noted,
services are held at the Mount Zion Assembly building on Rte. 70 in
Boylston, MA (directions will follow). Please note: there is no charge
for attendance and tickets are not required as at other synagogues.
Here is the schedule:
Tuesday 9/6, 10:30 a.m., Tom Teruah (Day of Sounding the Shofar/Trumpet)
(a.k.a. Rosh haShanna, or the Jewish New Year)
Tuesday 9/6, 2:30 p.m., Tashlikh (commemorates His work of casting our sins
into the sea of forgetfulness!), at Elm Park in Worcester, MA
Saturday 9/10, 10:30 a.m., Shabbat T'shuva (The Sabbath of Turning)
Wednesday 9/14, 7:30 p.m., Kol Nidre/Erev Yom Kippur (preparation for
the Day of Atonement)
Thursday 9/15, 10:30 a.m., Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) - a bittersweet
day for us as we rejoice in our Salvation (our Yeshua), but remain
heavy-hearted & prayerful for those who don't know Him (Jew and Gentile alike).
Thursday 9/15 6:00 p.m., Ne'ilah (breaking the fast of Yom Kippur) - a
celebration!
Monday 9/19 5:00 p.m. - we'll be putting up a congregational sukkah or
tabernacle at the house of our Spiritual Leader and having a service to
begin the week of Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles) at 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday 9/27 10:30 a.m. - we'll be combining a day of GREAT rejoicing
(Hoshanna Rabbah) and the eigth day of Sukkot (Shemini Atzeret) at a
worship service this morning.
Of course - any Saturday, you're welcome to come to services. We meet for
Shabbat Worship at 10:30 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Assembly building (where we
currently rent space - this is subject to change, so be sure to call the
office for more info). The building is located on Rte. 70 in Boylston,
just up the road from Digital's Boylston Conference Center.
If you have any questions, please call our office at (508) 792-0822.
You'll likely need to leave a message and someone will get back to you.

That's "Yom Teruah" - not "Tom Teruah"
groan! :-)
So I can't type...big deal....

| Reminder:
Invitation is still open.
Tonight (sundown) begins Yom Kippur - the Day of Atonement. It's
somewhat sobering to consider that The Atonement is finished, and yet
so many remain unaware of, or worse, intentionally hostile towards this
fact.
Pray that men, women, and children the world over would come to *know*
the One who has provided atonement for them; the Messiah - Yeshua of
Nazareth.
