"Scotty, set the beams on high"
whew! :-) I just got a gander of
the most incredible looking kid I've ever seen... Matthew... now almost
my height... wow, he sure looks all grown up. :-(
He's got more character that kid, then I've got in my little finger.
He started to walk out the door and I yelled, "Hey Bud, get over
here!"
He grinned and knew exactly what I wanted... a kiss. And off to a
tutoring class for one hour at the church school.

500.17 | A GREETING FROM MARK LOVIK | JULIET::MORALES_NA | Sweet Spirit's Gentle Breeze | Wed Nov 02 1994 14:03 | 20 |
| Hi Nancy (and anyone else that this note finds it's way to :-) ),
Just a note to say "Hi" to everyone (those that are left, which is sadly
missing a few since the time of my departure) and let you know that I'm
thinking about you and miss you. (Which reveals that I've been peeking at the
Christian conference via a friend.) I'm still waiting for the Lord to open up
a job -- there's a few opportunities on the horizon that I'm
waiting to hear back from, but some of them seem see the situation in a less
"urgent" light than I do :-) . I know that the Lord has something -- not just
anything, but the perfect opportunity in His perfect will at His perfect time.
I wish I could have frequent "access" to be in touch. One of my prayers is
that where ever I end up working will give me access to Internet mail.
Anyway, I've got to run now. The Lord bless you, and you are in my prayers
(and I'm *so* glad to be in yours).
Yours in Christ,
Mark Lovik

Hi everyone,
I want to share with you all that the Lord has shown Himself faithful (so,
what's news? :-) ) in providing me with a new job. I'll be starting on
Jan. 3, 1995, with Mitutoyo (also called MTI Corporation, not to be confused
with the MTI that makes storage systems), a Japanese (surprise!) company that
makes industrial measuring devices. At the low end of their products are such
things as micrometers and calipers, etc. At the high end (where I come into
the picture) are computerized coordinate measuring machines that probe a part
and analyze the data to determine if it meets predetermined specifications.
I don't know if I'll have internet access from there, but if I do, I'll be sure
and pass on the address.
It has been an interesting experience being unemployed for what will be a total
of 7 months. But there is something the Lord spoke to me early on that has
been a great help, and I'd like to share it with you. In Jeremiah 33:1-3, we
read "Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while
he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, Thus saith the LORD the
maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things,
which thou knowest not." To paraphase, the Lord is saying to Jeremiah, "*I*
made the walls of the prison that you are in! Now, call to Me so that I can
answer you." The circumstances and situations of the lives of the one who
loves God are never by chance (Rom. 8:28). God carefully and lovingly
engineers our circumstances, and in them He wants us to call to Him. The
psalmist writes in Ps. 50:15 "And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will
deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me."
Now, consider an example from the life of the Perfect Man, the Lord Jesus. He
states in John 12:27-28, "Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say?
Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have
both glorified it, and will glorify it again." First, notice that He was aware
of trouble in His soul; there is nothing wrong with feeling soul trouble; the
question is what we will do when we feel it. Next, notice that He never says
"What shall I do", but what He says is (again, paraphrased) "What shall I
pray?" There is *no* question on His part as to what He would do -- His life
of perfect obedience to God's will is to immediately pray when the "walls of
the prison" appear. And what does He pray? "Father, glorify Thy name." And
God answers Him.
During these past months, I saw that my part was not to question what God was
doing, but to continue to call upon Him and wait for His answer. Well, He has
answered in His time. I am happy to say that His answer is never too late (my
monetary resources have held out). Interesting enough, last March I had to
make a decision as to whether to take a cash payout or roll over from a 401k at
my job previous to DEC. (The 401k plan was closing out because the company had
closed.) I felt led to go ahead and take the payment (in spite of the
penalty). That amount (not a huge amount -- about $4000) has made the
difference in keeping my "head above water" for the last two months. The Lord
is good!
Well, enough of my ramblings. The Lord bless you all. Keep pursuing to know
Him. "Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth
is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the
latter and former rain unto the earth." Hosea 6:3
