484.12 | Ottawa - Hull , Canada Marching For Jesus | POLAR::DOWNEY | | Thu Jun 02 1994 20:02 | 15 |
| Ottawa, Ontario and Hull, Quebec will be Marching for Jesus. We are
hoping for 35,000 to 50,000 people. Last year there was approx. 20,000
people.
We will have 35 trucks each with a generator and PA system tuned to
either a french or english FM channel. Each truck will have 1000 people
marching, 500 in front and 500 people behind. The radio station will
broadcast the music "KING OF THE NATIONS". This was done last year
and it was fantastic to see so many brothers and sisters in the LORD
singing and marching for JESUS. One big happy family - one in Christ.
As of May 10th. there are 91 countries confirmed to march with another
dozen expected to join. 15,000,000 plus are expected to March For Jesus
in 24 time zones around the globe on June 25th. Hallelujah!!! What a
day it will be!

484.13 | March for Jesus in Paris, France! | ULYSSE::BESSAC | | Wed Jun 08 1994 05:33 | 24 |
| In Paris, we will march from Place de la Bastille, west of the city
through all the main historical, governmental, financial, cultural
quarters (including rue St Denis, the prostitution quarter), up the
Champs Elyses to the opposite eastern gate of the city.
We will march from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Several trucks with a sound system
will drive along, leading the prayers and songs (Jesus, King of the nations
is one of them - most songs proclaiming the lordship of Jesus).
The march will be followed by an all-night praise and prayer meeting
from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the next day (while some of you start
marching in your cities!).
Let us pray that many will join. In the Valbonne area, some 40 people
will go by plane and train. Many towns have chartered buses. Two
years ago, only 3.000 of us marched in Paris. Let us pray for many many
more this year. With the company of angels, I believe we can look to
be 30.000!
What a glorious day that will be! The powers of darkness will surely be
shaken! Halleluyah!

March for Jesus. I'm not sure how many people there were in Boston,
but I was carrying a banner in the second group of 250, and when our
group had gone all the way around and into the Common, there were
still other groups coming past Park Street Church. It lasted from
about 11:15 after Mayor Menino's speech until about 12:45.
There was an announcement that Australia (not sure if this was just
Sydney, or several cities) was expecting 100,000, but 250,000 showed up.

Several people wanted it to go on longer, I'll speak to the New England

See you next year!!!

| Gardner march was very exciting! People came out at all the downtown stores
to watch. Parents and kids open windows and waved. In all, there were
approximately 950 - 1000 in Gardner that marched.. After, as people
ministered in song specials, and mimes to Carman's the Champion, my heart
could not help but to have an overwhelment of emotion. Jesus in truely
Lord! Its an AWESOME sight to see a dozen or so churches, of different
denominations, coming together for JESUS! I was truely blessed again
this year by the event!

| The Boston March organizers videotaped the event and provided a short,
edited video release to all the local TV stations by 2PM Saturday, and
written articles to all the newspapers.
In Boston, there was no parade permit issued until just three weeks
before the event. The organizers decided that they were just going
to go ahead and advertize the event and proceed on faith that a permit
would be issued. Last year they were denied a permit because of the
gay pride parade; this year they were initially denied a permit because
of the World Cup.
It has been very difficult, and the organizers are really exhausted.

Subj: The March for Jesus
To the Editors:
When the Globe arrived Sunday, I expected to find at least a short
article about Saturday's Global March for Jesus, but there was nothing
on Sunday, and still nothing on Monday.
Apparently the Globe does not think it to be newsworthy that in a thousand
cities around the world, five hundred in the United States, and fifty in
New England, millions of Christians of all denominations, Catholics and
Protestants: Baptists, Methodists, Evangelicals, Charismatics, Pentecostals,
and Episcopalians, people from the inner-city and from the suburbs, all
turned out together to sing the Lord's praises.
The Globe doesn't even seem to think it newsworthy that the five or six
thousand Boston marchers were sent off by a short speech from Mayor
Menino.
I don't understand why.
Sincerely,
John Covert

| In Boston, it was made very clear that no banners or other ways of
identifying groups were to be allowed; we were there to identify with
Jesus, not with any particular group. Also, no literature was to be
handed out.
I understand, however, that in Oklahoma city, groups marched together
and were well-identified.
Did this rule vary a lot from place to place, or was Boston (or OKCity)
doing something different?

| John (.42),
The MfJ folks clearly identified in their materials that no groups
were to be identified. Good causes, denominations, political causes
and so forth...didn't make any difference -- none were to be identified.
The whole point of the march being that One Name was to be exalted,
proclaimed, praised. It is/was a celebration for Him! (and not for the
"save the calla-lily-conservative-bapticostals" if you get my drift...)
Sounds like the OK City folks weren't quite with the program.
