I am now a member of our Churches Music Committee. I was given the honor of coordinating music leader roles in our worship services. There are currently four of us, one who mostly fulfills this role while the three of us do it on occasion. In an effort to get others involved, I am going to post a note on our bulliten board stating if anybody is interested in the role of song leader, please call me. Bottom line question. Is it protocol for women to perform this role? I personally don't see it as an issue buit I do go to a traditional New England Baptist church. Great bunch of people but there could be resistence. I am particularly interested in comments from those against this. The song leader does spend alot of time during the service setting a tone for worship so there is alot of exposure. It's not an issue of ability, it's an issue of gender roles in the service. Thanks for the feedback! -Jack

Jack, What does your *Pastor* think? He's the leader of your church, consult him... regardless of what anyone else things in here, following the Pastor is most important. | |||||

Good Point. I haven't talked to him yet but I was planning to. I'm sure you, Nancy, would make a beautiful song leader!!! -Jack |
