401.0. "Ancient Passover Feasts. When?" by EVTSG8::DUSATKO () Mon Feb 14 1994 05:15

    Does anyone have contact with jewish people which could give the DAY of
    the week and date on which Passover fell between 20 AD and 50 AD?

    Your brother in Christ,

    The passover was on the 14th of the month regardless of the day of the
    week. This was based on a lunar cycle, the 1st being that day of the
    new moon. They would position spotters high in the city and when the
    moon was seen, as a tiny sliver, rising then the trumpets were blown
    and this trumpet blast indicated the start of the new year. Ten days
    later was when each household brought in to it a lamb. And on the 14
    between the evenings the lamb was slain. Because this is based on a
    lunar cycle passover would fall on the night of the full moon exactly
    1/2 lunar cycle from the new moon. The lunar cycles can be tracted
    exactly with any low cost astronomy program for your pc. By the way
    passover was on wednesday in 33 a.d.
