378.0. "My time to step out" by POWDML::ESTEVEZ () Tue Jan 18 1994 14:08

     Hello Family,

It is now my turn to say "Hasta Luego".
I plan to leave as missionary along with my husband and
daughters to Guatemala, Central America, at the end of
February. The 28th of January would be my last day here
at Digital (a week from Friday).
We are going to be in charge of directing a camp "Shalom"
in its activities and physical development, as well as
helping with the discipleship of the new converts in our
denomination (Primitive Methodist). They are reporting
from 800-1000 new members every year, and are lacking
leaders or the finances to prepare them.

We were planning to leave at the end of this month, but
are still in the process of raising our monthly support
(not quite there yet....) though by faith, we trust that
the Lord is going to provide the remaining needed sponsors.

I have promised to send some of you our newsletter from
Guatemala so that you can know how things are going.
We have prayer cards that I plan to put on the mail
today and tomorrow for those of you whom I've met, and
others whom have expressed an interest in praying for us.
If anyone else feels led to pray for this ministry, I'd
be happy to sent them the prayer card as well.

You are all very dear to me, those I've had the priviledge
to meet and the ones I haven't. My prayer is that the Lord
allows this conference to be a place through which souls
can come to know him and/or seek a closer relationship with
     him.

     God Bless!
     In His service,
     Josie Estvez

p.s. For those of you that don't know me, I'm mostly a read-only
whenever I have a little chance to get in. 8)

    Josie,

It's always hard to say goodbye to someone from the conference (even if
you have been mostly read-only -- but, Nancy just raised your name in
chit-chat this afternoon :-) ). But for me, it is not as difficult
when the "departed" is going on to serve the Lord. May the Lord bless
and use you in His service.

The Lord will bless you and yours, Josie. I hope you can get to my home
before you are off to the mission field! Does anyone know if there is
a DEC in Guatemala?

I am happy for you because obedience to the call of God reaps the highest
joys. And you know well enough that it is likely not going to be party
time in Guatemala, but I know you well enough to know that you will
be blessed with His joy.

    :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

I'm so excited for you! Markel's right I did raise your name in
chit-chat this morning... of course though I don't see you in here
often anymore, I do see you often at home and prayers are not unique
    for Josie's mission either!

Hugs, love and God Bless you on this journey,
    Nancy
378.4God speed, Josie! You'll be missed.LEDS::FIESTERWed Jan 19 1994 12:3429
    Josie,

God speed, dear one! I am so happy to see the fruit borne in your life
and that of your family. You will be a major blessing to those whom
    you serve.

They (those you serve) will come to see the True Light, in which you
satisfy yourself. There will be peace in the midst of the turmoil.
There will be joy in the midst of suffering. There will be abundance
    in a desert place.

For in you flows the River of Life, living water to share with those
around you. Even as you are kept close to the Master, there will those
who will keep close to you. Even as the Master loves you, you will
love those whom He entrusts to your care.

Never fear....the Lord is with you. He will never forsake you, never
leave you. And those who put their hope in Him will never be
disappointed (ashamed). What is impossible with men is possible with
    God!

This is major rejoicing time. I pray that the Lord would settle your
plans in a quick manner. And that your financial needs would be taken
care of quickly. I'll miss not seeing you on the 'net, but *know* that
one day we'll meet again for a joyful reunion! *&^)

    Love in HIM,

    Josie,

The best for you and may God be with you as you start a new journey.
I have always enjoyed the notes you have put in here. Always seem
to have a spark to them :-)

    Our Prayers go with you.

Thanks so much for all your words!

As Mark M. said it *won't* be party time in Guatemala, we know
we'll probably face some difficult times. Many of our non-Christian
friends and families have even called us crazy, specially when we
tell them that our salary will depend on our sponsors being faithful
to their monthly promises. The thing they don't understand is that
our Lord is the owner of all the riches in the world, and *He* is
our Provider, the sponsors and offerings are just channels for his
    provision.

Mark M., as far as a DEC in Guatemala, there's a servicenter in
Guatemala City, probably around three hours from where I would be.
The camp that we're going to be at is in San Cristobal, Totonicapan.
If anyone of you in ever in Guatemala and would like to come visit,
please feel free, the house is huge (I mean it).
I could probably go by your facility before I go, and see some other
friends that I have at ZKO.

    Love you all!
    Josie

Josie,

So glad to be able to wish you God's richest of blessings in His service!
I'll look forward to seeing your newsletter 'on the net', and hearing how
He uses you all...

It's all been said really - and the pain of 'goodbye' is alleviated by the
thrill of knowing you're entering His service. Not to mention that there's
no real goodbye, 'cause we'll all meet again where there's no parting, but
only rejoicing!

    That's right Andrew!

It's great to have the assurance that those of you whom I haven't
met, I'll get to live eternally with in heaven.

Thanks for all your good wishes!

    In Christ's love,
    Josie
