I recently attended the Mobilized to Serve singles conference in Washington DC. At it were 2 gentlemen who have created a Christian Date-A-Base. The purpose of the database is "the bringing together Christians that are looking for fellowship, companionship, or a permanent martial relationship -- all based on the perfect word of God, The Bible." I really liked what they were doing so I picked up their literature and the forms. What makes this database different are several points: 1) It arose out prayer and fasting to God asking him out he could help his daughter meet appropriate people 2) It's not just for the purpose of dating/marriage, but of helping people connect with similar interest. An example he gave was of an older man who was looking for fishing buddies. 3) It requires a reference from your pastor who attests your beliefs and character, while at the same time show the pastor that your have needs for which he might not have know. 4) Costs are fairly low to participate. $10 to register, $10 to query the database 3 times. The database is located in PA and, until the conference, was mostly poplulated with people from PA, MD, DE. But as a result of the conference there are a potential of 1000 more names from all over North America. In addition, when the population count reaches a certain level (I think 3500 but can't quite recall) Focus On The Family has agreed to have him on as a guest. So if you're interested in having me send you the blurb on the database and the necessary forms send me mail with your name and mailstop. Nancy Weber

Hi Nancy, That's a typo which often strikes me as singularly [in]appropriate.... ;-} Christians that are looking for fellowship, companionship, or a permanent martial relationship -- all based on the perfect word of God, ^^^^^^^ It might often work out that way, but it's not what's meant ideally. - I guess it's because the 'i' has moved out to become a capital one in the relatIonship... ;-) & - not meaning to detract from the actual value of .0, though! |
