338.0. "IMMEDIATE PRAYERS NEEDED - today" by JULIET::CLABAUGH_JI () Wed Dec 08 1993 05:26
PRAYERS ARE NEEDED RIGHT NOW.
Please stop just a minute and pray for God's will to be
imposed on the U.S. Supreme Court Justices.
Today, December 8, 1993, lawyers for the American Center for Law and
Justice (ACLJ) are going to argue an important case before the U.S.
Supreme Court. The case is NOW vs. Scheidler.
NOW (National Organization of Women) is arguing that the RICO statues
(Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) should apply to
the Pro-Life groups that protest around abortion clinics. In this
case, the NOW is suggesting that the first amendment freedom of
speech doesn't apply since the pro-life argument suggests that
people shouldn't do something that is legal to do (abortion).
NOW's attempt to outlaw pro-life activites through the misuse of
the RICO statutes is very dangerous and wide-ranging. If their
argument succeeds, pro-life activities, and possibly all other
"politically incorrect" social protest could become illegal,
and the organizers could be labled "racketeers".
When NOW presented their argument before the 7th Circuit Court,
they were unsuccessful, but NOW appealed to the U.S. Supreme
Court and the Court decided to hear the case.
If you wish to pray for the attorney by name, the Counsel of Record
for the ACLJ is Jay Sekulow. Other attorneys on this case are Keith
Fournier, Vincent McCarthhy, and Walter Weber.
It wouldn't hurt to pray for the Justices, also. Kennedy, Scalia,
Rehnquist, Blackmun, Stevens, O'Connor, Thomas, and two others
whose names slip my memory at this hour of the morning.
God bless you all.
Jim.

will you also pray for God's will to be done over this vote?

| In my country it is not legal to interfere with the judicial process...
Does praying for God's intervention constitute interference?
(This is a tongue-in-cheek question...)

| It's like in the trial of Jesus, when Pilate said "What is truth?". We are
left with the strong inmpression that just about everyone was on trial
*except* Jesus, who alone displayed total integrity. But He was the One
Who suffered the penalty for the sins of that day. And of every day...
The 'laws' man passes don't define what is right or wrong; they demonstrate
man's position in the battle against sin; where he stands... We
(nationally and generally, rather than individually) seem to be arrayed on
the side of evil, and against God...
Man is on trial by his declaration of what he wants to consider acceptable.
But how can they take Him to court for perverting the course of Justice?
Ultimately (when they have had every opportunity to repent), He will take
them to the highest court, and their laws will be one evidence....
