234.0. "Christian schools??? Gr 6-12" by SEND::GOREY () Wed Aug 11 1993 15:26

Does anyone know of any good Christian schools in the Worcester County
area of Massachusetts? I've looked into Lexington Christian Academy and
although I would love to send my son there, the cost is rather high and
the issue of transportation from Leominster is one I had not been able
    to figure out.

I know about Twin City Baptist and have heard many different things
about the school. Would be interested in hearing more comments from
parents of children who have sent their kids there.

    Please send mail.

    Thanks!

Are you excluding Catholic schools or are they considered Christian too ?

    Jim,

Why not provide the information and let the guy decide on his own? The
note wasn't entered to spur a discussion of this nature.

    Please,
    Nancy

Whitensville Christian School in Northbridge/Whitensville would be
an excellent choice. We placed our daughter there during the year we
lived in Ma. We found the school to be of very high standards and reasonably
priced for the area. The school is K-12 and the teacher Laura had for 6th
grade was tough, but fair and exactly what she needed. Kept her mind
off of missing Colorado.

They also have one of the best Suzuki music programs in the nation there.

234.8WORCESTER ASSEMBLY OF GODPOWDML::MOSSEYFri Aug 13 1993 11:1610
The Assembly of God in Worcester has a K - 12 school in/near the
    church.

My pastor's children go there and his wife teaches there - I'll try
to find out the proper name of the school this weekend and post it
    here.

I don't believe the Assembly of God school in Worcester goes up to
12th grade yet. I believe their highest grade is 6th. As I under-
stand it they try to add a grade every year.

My daughter has attended the First Assembly Christian Academy for
the past two years. They are indeed adding a grade every year and
are starting grade 10 this year.

It is a fine school, our daughter did very well! We had placed her
there because she was being bullied by other students (and teachers!)
in our Lancaster Middle school. The turn-around in performance was
    *amazing*!!!

This year, she's going to Nashoba Regional High school because we're
out of bucks, getting her there every day was not fun (my wife and I
both work at Shrewsbury) and we feel she'll do well at Nashoba.

The Art'n'Drama teacher at F.A.C.A. is a dynamo! Very creative and
enthusiastic. Having our daughter involved in the drama and arts
at F.A.C.A. has been a great experience. Really brought her out of
her shell! F.A.C.A. has a very dedicated staff.

Thanks for the information on Worcester Assembly. I graduated from
Nashoba Regional in Bolton. Send mail if you'd like more information
regarding NRHS... Anyway, transportation to most of these schools
is proving to be very challenging. Currently I work in ZKO, there is
rumour that we might be moving back to Littleton again but I just
don't know right now.. School starts on the 31st in Leominster and I'm
    running out of time/options.

Keep sending any suggestions/information/whatever via mail as I don't
always get a chance to get into the notes files during the day.

I sincerely appreciate the information comming my way!

    Thanks again.

My daughter graduated 10 years ago from Lexington Christian Academy.
I'm sure that there have been many changes over those years (I know
that there is a new Headmaster), but her experiences were mostly good
    ones.

If anyone is interested in sending a child to one of these private
Christian schools, you should look into the availability of scholarships
to help with tuition. The schools should have that information
    available.

234.18I'd second Whitinsville Christian School in the Worcester area...WOOF::GREENWALDThu Aug 19 1993 10:549
We sent our son last year to Whitinsville Christian (7th grade) and are sending
him back this fall for 8th grade. The school is over 50 years old and has approx-
imately 500 students enrolled from K-12. For the first time in my son's school
life, he's had to study to get good grades. Also, the teachers really seem to care
about the students. This was a real switch from our public school (Jr./Sr. High).
Many of the graduating seniors have gone on to some very good colleges. All in
all, we have been very happy with the school.

234.19Twin City is a fine schoolLANDO::HOFFMANWed Aug 25 1993 13:5630
Marjie,

My kids went there for a couple years, then due to $ and the long commute,
we put them in public school. They were in Grades 1 and 3 at TC, and they really
got a jump ahead of the public school. They tested a couple of years ahead of
their grade level, after going there.

Some random comments :

The teachers at TC are fine, dedicated Christians who want your kids to
know Jesus, first and foremost. They have to do a LOT of homework. Bad
behaviour is NOT tolerated. MUCH love and caring is shown to the kids.
The stuff I heard about too much legalism (from folks who didn't have kids
there) turned out to be baloney. Both my kids cried when we told them they
would have to go back to public school. They say they LOVED TC, even though
they were made to work much harder and accomplish much more.

FYI - we are members of Fitchburg Assembly of God (Pentecostal), but there were
no doctrinal issues with our Baptist brothers and sisters at TC.
They tend to give STRONG emphasis to knowing and living God's Word,
and NOT to quibble about doctrine.

I wish it worked out that we could keep our kids at TC, but we now feel that
God has prepared our kids for His purposes, and that they will be Lights in
the public school. We just moved to Milford, NH, and they will go to public
school there.

Regards,
Dave
234.20Bethel Christian School -- Husdson NH just across the river from NashuaCALS::BEDNARSKIWed Oct 13 1993 13:5322
Hi,

My name is Bruce Bednarski. We have been sending our daughter to
Bethel Christian School for four years now and we and she like it
very much. She gets very good grades and all the teachers are
very friendly and show forth a Chirst-like love for the students.

It's in Hudson NH, just over the river from Digital or Sanders in Nashua NH.

	From their literature:

"Bethel is committed to academic excellence as taught from a
Christian perspective by experienced teachers who model Bibical values
reinforcing the moral and spiritual climate of home and church."
