| Er, uh... because nobody started one. :-)
Or is it under Christian Events... didn't check there yet.

Aaargh. Can't they pick a warmer month??? It's freezing down here
during those months. Difficult getting us ozzies out for a march in
these conditions...
"Global" indeed! ;-)

| Difficult getting us ozzies out for a march in these conditions...
James, Graeme Marks had a note discussing this in an earlier version,
specifically requesting sources for the music (I think it was), and I don't
think he was marching *quite* alone, down there in OZ... Perhaps they
march quicker to keep up the body temperature... ;-)
And the reason for there not being a note for the marches in this version
so far is partly, as Nancy said, because no-one has started one. But also,
as they tend to be generally annual events, it's more likely to be posted
under special events unless there is a particular aspect to be discussed.
They have been aired pretty fully in previous versions, so possibly it was
felt the topic (or participants) were exhausted....
As an annual event, there's only a fairly brief window when it's likely to
be raised. You're welcome to fill that need where perceived!

Strange. I know the UK is in a different time zone, but our march date was
12th June... perhaps we've slipped further than I'd realised ... ;-}
Usually we have had one march through Reading (UK), which has latterly been
estimated to reach 4000 participants, but this year the UK focus was
changed, to hold a number of smaller marches simultaneously, in different
parts of the town. Generally, residential areas, rather than just the
principle shopping centre, I believe. I was away from town, so unable to
participate myself.

179.4 | Worcester MARCH | JUPITR::DJOHNSON | Great is His Faithfulness | Mon Jun 21 1993 09:23 | 12 |
| I mentioned the MARCH FOR JESUS in the EVENTS OF INTEREST TO CHRISTIANS
note 13.97 thru .103. It was held in Worcester on June 12 along with the
rest of the world (except for Boston). We had between 2000 and 3000 people
participate with 35 or 40 churches involved. It was great. There was
very little mention of it after the fact in the Worcester Telegram &
Gazette even though we marched right in front of their building. At
first I didn't think there was any but my wife found a very small blurb
buried in the innermost recesses of the Sunday T&G. Interestingly,
Sunday's Walk For Aids (which had about the same turnout) received
front page and editorial coverage in Monday's paper.

| I wonder if the reason why it wasn't held in Boston on June 12 was because
that was the same day as the Gay Pride Parade ?

Most likely. Perhaps I've just forgotten it. Though two other
Christians I spoke with yesterday hadn't heard of it. Seems like it
needs pushing down here...

179.7 | March for Jesus in Kaufbeuren, Germany, July-3 | KBOMFG::KLINGENBERG | | Thu Jul 01 1993 04:51 | 31 |
| Here in Germany, we had a real big March for Jesus last year in Berlin.
This year, local churches are encouraged to have local marches all over
the country. The date has to be arranged with the local calendar of the
city, June 12 was only a recommendation (coming from England, I think).
Since many of the churches that would be willing to organize a march
attended a worship conference with worship leaders of the Vineyard
movement (from Anaheim and Langley) on June 12, most marches here take
place on other weekends throughout the summer.
We are having ours here in Kaufbeuren this coming Saturday. Basically
our church is the only one left to officially support it (do the work,
raise the money etc.). We are counting on many christians from other
groups to attend, but it seams that the leaders of other churches leave
it up to their sheep to attend or not - at best.
Still, God gave us promises that Kaufbeuren and the area will not be
the same after the march. We expect mighty things to happen, especially
in the real (spiritual) world. We have put a lot of effort in the
preparations, and all that we can think of (that God reminded us of) is
taken care of and running well. But attacks are heavy. Children seem to
be the main target of the enemy. When they get sick, not only they'd
have to stay home, but at least one of their parents, too. Yesterday I
found that they put up a couple of construction sites along the route.
We will have prayer nights today and tomorrow, and I can't wait to see
what the Lord is going to do on Saturday. Any prayer support is very
welcome.
Motto of the March in Kaufbeuren is 'See the glory of God'.
Best regards,
Hartmut
