Hi Nancy,
I've known His love by experience, confirming His saying so in the
letter He wrote me (the Bible).
I remember when my daughter Caroline died a bit over two years ago how
He especially showed me His love in the saints who ministered to me,
His letter which spoke to me and the very presence of His Holy Spirit
who comforted me.
And then daily I know His love through His letter and through His
Spirit.
God is alive and in me! Comparing this to the spiritual death I have
known there is no doubt that His love is real and personal.

Being one who remembers the loss of Caroline, I too felt at that time
the outpour of God's love. You see it was His love through me that
allowed me to share and encourage in such a tragedy as this.
I've thought often of your loss and know only that God's grace is
sufficient. I thank God for your testimony and faithfulness. This too
is an expression of love; *your* love for our Lord.

Roger died about 3 weeks back. His 4 children, aged between 5 and 14, and
Penny, his wife, have been 'strong' in a way only the LORD could give.
Just to see their faces brings tears to my eyes. You can see that they
have a hot-line to heaven.
"A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, in God in His holy
dwelling."
Psalm 68:5
"The LORD watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow."
Psalm 146:9
OK - so 'all the church' has been praying consistently for them - but His
love is such that He hears and answers those prayers most abundantly.
Then there was Hugh, Sue and their family, not only kept safe through that
head-on crash, but looking stronger than they ever were before, in spirit.
Hugh is still on crutches, but radiating peace and joy. Their car was
beside ours going home from church on Sunday, with Sue driving...
How do I know that God loves _me_? So many ways that I couldn't begin to
enumerate them here, largely because the most significant ones are those
closest to my heart, which are not yet ready to be proclaimed, and the
others, while precious in themselves, are minor by comparison... He is
faithful day by day, when I am weak; He gives the Word needed for the
moment...
On Sunday morning I'm due to be taking a service where there's a
children's talk. I thought we could put together a Valentine's day card
for the LORD, remembering all His goodness .... or at least some of it! ;-)
I guess that could be fun... I hope He enjoys it.

142.8 | HOW DO I KNOW GOD LOVES ME? | MSGAXP::DYER | | Thu Feb 16 1995 11:18 | 22 |
| Hi Nancy,
This question is not only a fun one, but an easy one. I could spend an afternoon
telling you how God has blessed me in outward expressions of Love.
First - he saved me (in the Navy!!)
He blessed me with a wonderful wife (long story on this one)
Both my boys made a committment to the Lord
I was able to buy a house - something I never thought I was able to do.
I am still employed - consistently doors have been opened for me.
I am very happy with the new church I am attending and with fellowship
I have had problems, but these were part of my growing experience, so
I count this as a blessing as well, (even though painful).
Getting out secret sins is always tough, but what a relief!!!
This has been a good year for me. I know from your sharing that you have
been blessed by his love too. Praise the Lord.

Hi Nancy (et. al.),
Some items that spring to mind are:
#1. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting
life. (John 3:16, NKJV)
#2. For God so loved me (!) that He gave His daughter Marilyn to be
my wife, in fulfillment of Genesis 2:23-24; she is described in
Proverbs 31:10-31, and I am learning to love her as Christ loved
the church.
#3. Ephesians 2:4-7
#4. 1 Peter, chapter 3 for the primer on daily living.
Thanks for asking,
Ron
