    My thoughts exactly...why are you sad?
    
    We often look at verses such as this one and think that God has failed
    us when we feel unfulfilled in our desires.
    
    But has God failed?

    Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body
    of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to
    sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.  Now if we have died with
    Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that
    Crist, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death
    no longer is master over him.  For the death that He died, He died to
    sin, once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.  Even so
    consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ

    [Note:  the commentary that I read said the the "lay aside the old
    self" and "put on the new self" vs. 22,24 was in the past tense in the 
    Greek.  It has already occurred.  The "be renewed in the spirit of your
    mind" is a daily process.  It other words, "BE who you ARE!".]

    Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in
    whatever circumstances I am.  I know how to get along with humble
    means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every
    circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going
    hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.

    If therefore the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.

    you, O men of little faith?  Do not be anxious then, saying, "What

    ourselves?"  For these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your
    heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  But seek first
    His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added
    to you.  Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will
    care for itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.

    O God, Thou art my God; I shall seek Thee earnestly;
    My soul thirsts for Thee, my flesh yearns for Thee,
    In a dry and weary land where there is no water.
    Thus I have beheld Thee in the sanctuary,
    To see Thy power and Thy glory.
    Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life,
    My lips will praise Thee.
    So I will bless Thee as long as I live;

    Yet those who wait on the Lord
    Will gain new strength;
    They will mount up with wings like eagles,
    They will run and not get tired,
    They will walk and not become weary.

    But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
    goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things
    there is no law.  Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified
    the flesh with its passions and desires.  If we live by the Spirit, let
    us also walk by the Spirit.  Let us not become boastful, challenging
    one another, envying one another.

    How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
    Nor stand in the path of sinners,
    Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
    But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

    "Because he has love Me, therefore I will deliver him;
    I will be with him in trouble;
    I will rescue him, and honor him.

    "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for
    if I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to you; but if I go, I
    will send Him to you.  And He, when He comes, will convict the world
    concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgement; concerning sin,
    because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness,
    because I go to the Father, and you no longer behold Me; and concerning
    judgement, because the ruler of this world has been judged."

    And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is
    perrfected in weakness."  Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast
    about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

    You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard lest,
    being carried away by the error of unprincipled men, you fall from your
    own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and

    Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.  This was
    the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.  And all
    were proceeding to register for the census, everyone to his own city. 
    And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to
    Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was
    of the house and family of David, in order to register, along with
    Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.  And it came about
    that while they were there, the days were completed for her to give
    birth.  And she gave birth to her first-born son; and she wrapped Him
    in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them
    in the inn.
    				Luke 2:1-8

    And in the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the
    fields, and keeping watch over their flock by night.  And an angel of
    the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone
    around them; and they were terribly frightened.  And the angel said to
    them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great
    joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David
    there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  And this
    will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths, lying
    in a manger."  And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude
    of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 
    	"Glory to God in the highest, 
    	 And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased."
    
    				Luke 2:8-14	

    And it came about when the angels had gone away from them into heaven,
    that the shepherds began saying to one another, "Let us go straight to
    Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has
    made known to us."  And they came in haste and found their way to Mary
    and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger.  And when they had
    seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about
    this Child.  And all who heard it wondered at the things which were
    told them by the shepherds.  But Mary treasured up all these things,
    pondering them in her heart.  And the shepherds went back, glorifying
    and praising God for all that they had heard and see, just as had been
    told them.
    
    				Luke 2:15-20	

    It is a trustworthy statement:
      For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him;
      If we endure, we shall also reign with him;
      If we deny him, he also will deny us;
      If we are faithless, He remains faithful; for He cannot deny Himself.
    Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence
    of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless, and leads to the
    ruin of the hearers.  Be diligent to present yourself approved to God
    as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the
    word of truth.  But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead
    to further ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene.
    
    				2 Timothy 2:11-17a

    Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The
    Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let every one who names the name
    of the Lord abstain from wickedness."  Now in a large house there are
    not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of
    earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.  Therefore, if a
    man cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor,
    sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.  Now
    flee from youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and
    peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.  But refuse
    foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels. 
    And the Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to
    all, able to teach, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting
    those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance
    leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their
    senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive
    by him to do his will.
    
    				2 Timothy 2:19-26

    You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 
    And the things which you have heard from me in the presence of many
    witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach
    others also.
    
    				2 Tim 2:1-2

    The Lord has taken away His judgments against you,
    He has cleared away your enemies.
    The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst;
    You will fear disaster no more.

    In that day it will be said to Jerusalem:
    "Do not be afraid, O Zion;
    Do not let your hands fall limp.

    "The Lord your God is in your midst,
    A victorious warrior.
    He will exult over you with joy,
    He will be quiet in His love,
    He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
    
    				Zephaniah 3:15-17

    It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing
    firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
    
    				Galatians 5:1

    For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom
    into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
    
    				Galatians 5:13

    But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of
    the flesh.  For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the
    Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another,
    so that you may not do the things that you please.  But if you are led
    by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.
    
    				Gal 5:16-18
    
    If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.  Let us not

    You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because
    greater is He who is in you than He who is in the world.

    Therefore also we have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to
    be pleasing to Him.

    For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir
    of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of
    faith.

 15  For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this,

    For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again,
    but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out,
    "Abba! Father!"  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that
    we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and
    fellow-heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him in order that we
    may also be glorified with Him.

    Behold, I have inscribed you on the palm of my hands.

    "For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake,
     But my lovingkindness will not be removed from you,
     And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,"
     Says the Lord who has compasion on you.

    What shall we say then?  Are we to continue in sin that grace might 
    increase?  May it never be!  How shall we who died to sin still live in
    it?  Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into
    Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?  Therefore we have been
    buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was
    raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might
    walk in newness of life.  For if we have become united with Him in the
    likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of
    His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with
    Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no
    longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.

    Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live
    with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is
    never to die again; death no longer is master over Him.  For the death
    that He died, He died to sin, once for all; but the life that He lives,
    He lives to God.  Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but
    alive to God in Christ Jesus.  Therefore do not let sin reign in your
    mortal body that you should obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting
    the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but
    present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your
    members as instruments of righteousness to God.  For sin shall not be
    master over you, for your are not under law, but under grace.

    sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. 

    The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that 
    dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. 
    Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy 
    before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they 
    divide the spoil. 

    For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his 
    shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian. 
    For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments 
    rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. 

    For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government 
    shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, 
    Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 
    Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon 
    the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish 
    it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal 
    of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

								Isaiah 9:1-7

    O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. 
    Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to

    Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. 
    For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared

							Psalm 96:1-13

    And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch 
    shall grow out of His roots: and the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon 
    Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and

    a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built. 

    Therefore shall the strong people glorify Thee, the city of the terrible 
    nations shall fear Thee.  For Thou hast been a strength to the poor, a 
    strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow 
    from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against 
    the wall.  Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a
    dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the 
    terrible ones shall be brought low. 

    And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast 
    of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, 
    of wines on the lees well refined.  And He will destroy in this mountain 
    the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread 
    over all nations.  He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD 
    will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of His people 
    shall He take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. 

    And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for 
    Him, and He will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for Him, we 
    will be glad and rejoice in His salvation. 


							Isaiah 25:1-9

    The LORD is exalted; for He dwelleth on high: He hath filled Zion with 
    judgment and righteousness. 
    And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and 
    strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure. 

 							Isaiah 33:4-6

    I just want to point something out in one the morning verses that 
    always gives me shivers of awe:

In the middle paragraph, everywhere you see the the English "salvation", the
Hebrew is yeshua.  Now the name Jesus comes indirectly via Greek, then Latin,
from His Hebrew name which is Yeshua. 

Behold, God is my Yeshua; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD 
JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also is become my Yeshua. Therefore 
with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of Yeshua. ...

Picture Yeshua at the temple during the ceremony of drawing water in the 
festival of Sukkot (I think it's Sukkot, but it may be Shavuot) saying, 
"I am the water of life, the one who comes to me will never thirst." The 
ceremony of water drawing was a joyous occasion, so joyous in fact, that it 
is written, "If you have not experienced the joy of the water drawing, you 
have not experienced joy."  Those of us who have drunk the water of life
from the wells of Yeshua know joy that exceeds the joy of the water drawing
at the temple.

Contrast the curse that work became at the fall, in Genesis 3:17-19, to the 
blessing, fulfillment and joy it would naturally be under God's righteous 
and loving dispensation - again available only through the Blood.

    The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the
    desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.  It shall blossom 
    abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon 
    shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall 
    see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God. 

    Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.   Say to 
    them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God 
    will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and 
    save you. 

    Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf 
    shall be unstopped.  Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the
    tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out,
    and streams in the desert.  And the parched ground shall become a pool,
    and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, 
    where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes. 

    And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way 
    of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those:
    the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.  No lion shall be
    there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found
    there; but the redeemed shall walk there: And the ransomed of the LORD 
    shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their 
    heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall

							Isaiah 35:1-10

    Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.  Speak ye comfortably to
    Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her 
    iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for 
    all her sins. 

    The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the

  5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien 
    shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

  7 For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice

    God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. 
    And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both 
    were now well stricken in years. 

    And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before 
    God in the order of his course, according to the custom of the priest's
    office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the
    Lord.  And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the
    time of incense.  

    And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right 
    side of the altar of incense.  And when Zacharias saw him, he was 
    troubled, and fear fell upon him.  But the angel said unto him, Fear not, 
    Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee
    a son, and thou shalt call his name John.  And thou shalt have joy and 
    gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.  For he shall be great in
    the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and
    he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. 
    And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. 
    And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the 
    hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom 
    of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. 

    And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an 
    old man, and my wife well stricken in years.  And the angel answering said
    unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to 
    speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. 
    And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day 
    that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, 
    which shall be fulfilled in their season. 

    And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so 
    long in the temple.  And when he came out, he could not speak unto them:
    and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he 
    beckoned unto them, and remained speechless. 

    And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were 
    accomplished, he departed to his own house.  And after those days his 
    wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, thus hath 
    the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away 
    my reproach among men. 

								Luke 1:1-25

    And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of 
    Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was 
    Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 

    And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly 
    favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 

    And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her 
    mind what manner of salutation this should be. 

    And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour 
    with God.  And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth
    a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.  He shall be great, and shall be 
    called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the
    throne of his father David: and he shall reign over the house of Jacob 
    for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 

    Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a 
    man? 

    And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon 
    thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also 
    that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of 
    God.  And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son 
    in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called 
    barren.  For with God nothing shall be impossible. 

    And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according 
    to thy word. And the angel departed from her. 

								Luke 1:26 

    And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with 
    haste, into a city of Juda; and entered into the house of Zacharias, 
    and saluted Elisabeth.  And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard 
    the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was 
    filled with the Holy Ghost: and she spake out with a loud voice, and said,

	Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 
	And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 
	For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears,
	the babe leaped in my womb for joy. 
	And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of 
	those things which were told her from the Lord.

	My soul doth magnify the Lord, 
	  and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. 
	He hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden: 
	  for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. 
	For He that is mighty hath done to me great things; 
	  and holy is His name.  And His mercy is on them that fear Him 
	from generation to generation.  He hath shewed strength with His
	  arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 
	He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low 
	  degree. 
	He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich He hath sent

	He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy; as He

    And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house. 

								Luke 1:39-56

    Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she 
    brought forth a son.  And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the
    Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her. 

    And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the 
    child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. 
    And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John. 
    And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by 
    this name.  And they made signs to his father, how he would have him
    called.  And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, 
				His name is John. 
    And they marvelled all. 

    And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he 
    spake, and praised God. 

    And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings 
    were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.  And all 
    they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner 
    of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him. 

    And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, 
    saying, 

	Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; 
	  for He hath visited and redeemed His people, 
	and hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of His 
	servant David; as he spake by the mouth of His holy prophets, 
	which have been since the world began: 
	That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that 
	hate us; to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember
	His holy covenant; the oath which he sware to our father Abraham, 
	that he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of 
	our enemies might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness 
	before him, all the days of our life. 

	And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou 
	shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; to give 
	knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, 
	through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high 
	hath visited us, to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the
	shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. 

    And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts 
    till the day of his shewing unto Israel. 

          						Luke 1:57-80

    Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: 
    When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together,
    she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.  Then Joseph her husband, 
    being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was 
    minded to put her away privily.  But while he thought on these things,
    behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, 

	Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: 
	for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.  And she 
	shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for 
	He shall save his people from their sins. 

    Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the 
    Lord by the prophet, saying, 

	Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and 
	they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with 
	us. 

    Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had 
    bidden him, and took unto him his wife: and knew her not till she had
    brought forth her firstborn Son: and he called His name JESUS. 

							Matthew 1:18-25

    And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from 
    Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing 
    was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)  And all went to be 
    taxed, every one into his own city. 

    And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into 
    Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was 
    of the house and lineage of David:) to be taxed with Mary his espoused 
    wife, being great with child.  And so it was, that, while they were there,
    the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 

    And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling 
    clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in 
    the inn. 

 							Luke 2:1-7

    And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping
    watch over their flock by night.  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon
    them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore
    afraid.  And the angel said unto them, 
	Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, 
	which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day 
	in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 
	And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped 
	in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 
    And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host 
    praising God, and saying, 
	Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

    And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, 
    the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and 
    see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto 
    us.  And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe 
    lying in a manger. 

    And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was 
    told them concerning this child.  And all they that heard it wondered at
    those things which were told them by the shepherds. 

    But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. 

    And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the 
    things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. 

								Luke 2:8-20

    And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, 
    His name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before He was 
    conceived in the womb. 

    And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were 
    accomplished, they brought Him to Jerusalem, to present Him to the Lord; 
    (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the 
    womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) and to offer a sacrifice according
    to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or 
    two young pigeons. 

    And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the 
    same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and 
    the Holy Ghost was upon him.  And it was revealed unto him by the Holy 
    Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
    And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought 
    in the child Jesus, to do for Him after the custom of the law, then took 
    he Him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, 
    	Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to 
	thy word: for mine eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast 
	prepared before the face of all people;
	A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. 
	And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken
	of Him. 

    And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this 
    child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a 
    sign which shall be spoken against; (yea, a sword shall pierce through 
    thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. 

    And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the 
    tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven 
    years from her virginity; and she was a widow of about fourscore and four 
    years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings 
    and prayers night and day.  And she coming in that instant gave thanks 
    likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for 
    redemption in Jerusalem.  And when they had performed all things 
    according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their 
    own city Nazareth.  And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, 
    filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. 

								Luke 2:21-40

 
    Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. 
    And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the 
    custom of the feast.  And when they had fulfilled the days, as they 
    returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and
    his mother knew not of it.  But they, supposing him to have been in the 
    company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk 
    and acquaintance. 

    And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking 
    him.  And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the 
    temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking
    them questions.  And all that heard him were astonished at his 
    understanding and answers. 

    And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, 
    Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have 
    sought thee sorrowing. 
    And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I 
    must be about my Father's business? 
    And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. 
    And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto 
    them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. 
    And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and 
    man. 

							Luke 2:41-52

							Matthew 27:45-54

    When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named 
    Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:  He went to Pilate, 
    and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be 
    delivered. 

    And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 
    And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and 
    he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

						Matthew 27:57-61

    In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first

    as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.  And go quickly, and 
    tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth 
    before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. 

    And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and 
    did run to bring his disciples word. 

    And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, 
    All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. 

							Matthew 28:1-9

    And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, 
    which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.  And they talked 
    together of all these things which had happened.  And it came to pass, 
    that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near,
