22.1 | | AUSSIE::CAMERON | and God sent him FORTH (Gen 3:23) | Thu Jul 01 1993 20:29 | 12 |
| Note 22.1? Am I the first to go on leave?
My wife and I are off 10th July to 30th August on a tour of the
northern and western states of Australia. Six weeks driving and
camping, with one week immediately following at a DECUS symposium.
Sydney, Brisbane, Mt. Isa, Tennant Creek, Katherine, Darwin, Wyndham,
Derby, Broome, ALice Springs, Adelaide, Broken Hill, Dubbo, Sydney.
My paper is not on Ethics as it was last year; it's on Motif.

| When my tasks are done today, I'm outta here for some R&R (a few days alone
with the family and then smoe days with other families).
Danny the Yak will be a full-fledged Georgian next week as he moves his family
down there beginning today. He closes on his house up here today (at 4) and
heads on out to New York (family) for the over night. Then he's Georgia-bound
for a Monday closing on his home in GA. It's been a tough saga for Dan and
family but they are nearly into their next phase of life - boiled peanuts,
pecans and peaches 500 ft., peaches - pecans 400 ft., peaches - pecans 300 ft.,
pecans and peaches 200 ft., pecans and peaches 100 ft., pecans and peaches here,
you just passed pecans and peaches, pecans and peaches 300 ft back. Sad to
say but the children are young enough to be tainted by the drawl they'll
be deluged by every waking moment they're not in the parents presence -
excepting all the northern transplants in the region, of course. And the
Benson's will finally get some peace and quiet without Yak staying up too late
watching TV.
Last night at revival services, we signed up to be "greeters". He he he.
I got a wet (damp) paper towel and put it in my left hand. When there
was people I knew could take it, I'd slip it into my right hand and
give them a wet handshake. Buzzers don't usually work - they're too easily
seen (and I forgot my whoopie cushion). I suppose it will be a while before
they ask or accept the Metcalfe's at the front door of the church. I did dry my
hand for the elderly and people I didn't think would appreciate the welcome.
And I gave a couple people the "high five" as they came into church.
I've been looking forward to this vacation - and so have you (beat you to it).
I'll be out for almost two weeks with time enough for laundry in between.

| Mark - you and my dad would get along great.
He once sat with his hand in a bowl of ice cubes and water for half an hour,
just to greet one of my sister's new boyfriends. When he arrived, my father
quickly dried off his hand, and then offered his totally limp and ice cold hand
to the new boyfriend, and with his best deadpan cadeverous face and Boris
Karloff voice imitation, said "Goood Eeevening."

He does, but she doesn't [have any boys in sight], I say awaiting her
return from camp tomorrow. She's pretty much grouped in with some
girl friends of hers.
Picture this:
Boy interested in asking Miranda out and she's always with a bunch of friends.
"Hi. Would any of you mind if I asked Miranda out? No? Then, Miranda,
would you like ot go out with me? No? Oh. Okay, well how about you?
Would any of you mind is I asked Kara out?...."
I pondered with my wife last night, saying that "there are some nice boys
in our church. But then again, I was a nice boy."
Joy paused just long enough then said, "No you weren't."
She's learned all too well living with me.

God continues to be faithful to us and I look forward to the
new opportunities for me as well as for God to show His
continued faithfulness. One way that God's favor has rested
upon us is the Digital pension which I qualify for on

| Hi folks!
Today is my last day for a while... I'm leaving for maternity leave,
baby due in two weeks, about June 16.
In addition to disability, I'm planning to take at least a eight week
LOA, and to return part-time. (Details to be arranged later.)
Of course there's lots of changes bound to happen between now and
next fall, but I should be able to log in from home and try to keep up.
This is baby #2... I have an 18 month old daughter, Rachel Joy, who is
a real joy, learning to talk and all. This baby is carrying low like
a boy, but we still get to be surprised! It's a gentle baby, too.
Thanks for everyone's love and support!
God Bless!!

here at CSS will no longer be needed. This has come a a huge shock as
Ive only been here 5 months and was really looking forward to finishing
my training a starting on a project. I guess this is part of Gods plan
for me. I have really enjoyed reading and participating in this notes
conference. It has encouraged me to work at my relationship with Jesus
and put him first in my life. I really thought my place was here at DEC
as i was feeling so comfortable here and looking forward to what was
ahead. But God know best and Ill just have to search for his will in my
life.
My last day here is June 30 but Im not sure how much Ill be in as Ill

to direct my time and energy in other directions.
I have enjoyed my visit. My goal is to live my life open to God's
grace and by doing that to make a positive impact on all persons whom I
come in contact. Sometimes I am more successful in that goal than at
others.
Many person's have asked me what my motivation for noting in here has
been and I must acknowledge many motivations. Hopefully the more
positive one's are the one's that I have exemplified whether or not
they have made people uncomfortable. I suspect that at times it is
worse to be comfortable than uncomfortable.
God bless you all and hopefully I will join you again.

| Good Morning All!
My, but I've been so busy with "today" recently that _today_ has crept up
on me...
I decided to be brave(?) and give my notice for leaving Digital, and
today is my last full day in the office. I'll actually "exit" after
a few weeks vacation.
This is a good thing... I'm going to spend more time at home with my
two children, Rachel Joy now 2 1/2, and Johnny Ray almost 11 months.
I may even take Rachel to dance class, or something :-)
And thanks to a friend, I'll even get some Husband time before embarking
on Baby time. Wow, now that I'm writing about it, I'm really starting
to get excited!
John and I have spent almost two years running on a budget (he's now
a Quicken fanatic), and we're about to put our house in Sudbury on the
market, and move a few towns over (probably to Bolton) in pursuit of a
cheaper mortgage, and closer to church friends and other Moms to visit.
Of course, with the work we're putting into our house the last few weeks,
we're falling in love with it all over again! But I come from a family
who moved every couple years (for work), and I expect it will be fun for me
to look for new digs and to move in.
Please pray for John and I in this time of major transition, as we
continue to listen for God's leading in our lives.
And please know that I will miss you all here and all over Digital _very_
much. I came to Digital eight years ago, right out of college (UConn),
and DEC has practically been a second home to me. The work has been fun,
too! Luckily, I am "survived" by my husband, John, in this same group
actually. So I'll look forward to visiting and staying in touch.
BTW, I missed the last fellowship gathering, and would love to meet some
of you in person some day. I'll ask John to poke into this file now and
then in the meantime.
God Bless you All,
Enjoy!

| Well I finally found some time to come back in here. I had 1508
notes to catch up on....
Its so sad to see so many notes set hidden and so many personal
attacts and a severe lack of love in many of the notes....
Out of 1508 unseen notes there were only 3 in the praise section...
are we too concerned about the bad things to forget to give God the
glory for all those amazing things he does for us each day.
I won't be in for a while........
Maybe things will change......

| Human nature is not something we can run away from even as Christians.
It used to be that most antagonism in this conference was felt by those
who consider themselves non-members, just on a mission to set all us
Bible believing self righteous bigots in line.
But of late we've had siblings going at it those who are mostly
likeminded but yet different enough to take the use of the English
language to its lowest form of use, insult.
But like I said, we cannot run away from human nature. Kym may be
saying See-ya, which is heartbreaking, but at the same time, he'll find
human nature wherever he goes and won't be able to so easily run from
it.
I think this file can be for some of us a true test of agape and
forgiveness.
With much love,
Nancy

Nancy, has anyone made the claim in here that they were on a mission to
set all of the Bible believing self righteous bigots in line? If not, the above
comment is uncalled for. And again, I believe that at least , if not more of
what you believe to be antagonism, really isn't. You need to ask what people
mean, not tell them what they mean.

| Perceptions, for the perciever, is reality. OK Glen,,,,
No, it is not ok. If I were to perceive you as <insert something bad>,
would that be right just because I viewed it that way? In my head, yes. In
reality, no. Should I just go on believing as I do based on my perceptions, or
do I try and prove that what I am thinking is or isn't true. Case in point.
When I was younger, I considered all blacks in the city to be lazy good for
nothing drug dealers & pimps. Weird how that is not the case, huh? There are
still people today who believe the above is true. It is due to them not going
out and either proving or disproving their perceptions. Another example. A
friend of mine had her reputation tarnished because of people who told others
what they thought she was doing. They never approached her. They just went out
and told others what she meant. Guess what, they were wrong. They were proven
wrong. They had never bothered to ask, they just talked like they knew. These
are just two examples that should help illistrate why I don't like seeing
people just thinking they know what another person means, and state it like
it's fact. Ask. The perceiver could easily say that Jesus is not real. To them
it could be reality. But we know differently. Perceivers should not be taken as
fact. Ask..... you can get a lot further with life if you do. IMNSHO

Nice observation. But it is not one that is accurate. There are times
where I do fit some of the above. But I attribute that to human nature. That is
something I will have to work on probably for the rest of my life.

| I'm going on a holiday. Seven weeks starting next Monday, 16th
October. I'll be back on Monday 4th December. I won't be in IRC, and
I won't guarantee answering mail, either. I'll be on the road,
camping, and "taking in" the sights, sounds and smells of Western
Australia, the state on the western third of the continent. Driving,
but we'll also use the drive-on train.
Petria is coming too (of course), which means the Kids Club had to be
set up to run "automatically" while she is gone. That has been
interesting; she wrote a complete procedure manual for each Kids Club
leader for them to handle the seven weeks by themselves.
I haven't taken a long holiday for two years or so now. In Australia
the legislation provides for four weeks of annual leave accrued per
year. I had accrued seven weeks, projects here at work have reached a
good hand-over point, so off I go.
If any updates are required to the Christian Notes Album on the web,
mail them to me and I'll handle them when I get back.
I'll miss wishing you all a thankful Thanksgiving, but then, I usually
do anyway. ;-)
