395.0. "Best PC sound editor packages?" by CHEFS::TREVENNOR_A (A child of init) Wed Apr 09 1997 17:12

In the opinion of the readers of this conference, what is the best
low-price sound editor for Win95. I have got unregistered copies of
Cool32 and Goldwave - which are both very neat indeed. Are these the
    best available?

    Regards
    Alan T.

Another vote for Goldwave (and wavedit). Never head of Cool32,
what/where is it? Also just got WinDAT, which looks promising but
haven't played with it much yet.

395.2I got that a bit wrong......quite a lot actually!CHEFS::TREVENNOR_AA child of initWed Apr 09 1997 21:518
Sorry, it isnt called Cool32 its called Cool Edit (32 bit) and it is
exactly what it says it is - all the way through to a scripting
feature that lets you process batches of files in the same way (eg Wave
    to au conversion etc etc).

Those are probably the two best programs in that price range.

How do you define 'low price'? If you are talking <$500 instead of
$100, the two strongest contenders in the next tier are Sound Forge
from Sonic Foundry and SAW+32 for IQS (Innovative Quality Software).
Both are available (or wil be shortly) in native Alpha versions as well
    as Intel versions.
